The Show Would Need Amanda To Step In
During 1000-lb Sisters season 6, Tammy broke down and confessed she wanted to move away from Kentucky. Since losing 500 pounds, the 1000-lb Sisters star has been eager to flex her independence. Now that she can do more for herself, Tammy dreams of moving away and making a new life for herself away from her family. The Slatons are a very close family, which Tammy often found suffocating. 4 Amanda Is Always Working On Her Weight Loss Journey
Only 31 Pounds
While the other Slaton siblings struggled with weight their whole lives, Amanda was considered the thin one. It wasn't until she got married and had children that she started gaining weight. Amanda had bariatric surgery for the first time in 2017 but ended up gaining the weight back. She decided to have bariatric surgery in March 2023. This wasn't an easy decision because revision surgery comes with more risks than the first time.
Though she was disappointed that she hadn't lost more weight at this juncture, Amanda has lost over 200 pounds over the years.
During the 1000-lb Sisters season 6 weigh-in, all the Slaton siblings headed to the doctor together. Having recently had knee surgery, Amanda rolled up to the scale in a wheelchair and needed help stepping onto it. At her last weigh-in, Amanda weighed 299 pounds, but at her most recent weigh-in, the scale read 268 pounds. It was less than what Amanda expected to lose, but her knee injury was a setback. Though she was disappointed that she hadn't lost more weight, Amanda has lost over 200 pounds over the years and probably wants a chance to prove herself.
3 Did Amanda Confirm The New Season?
"Please Stay Tuned"
One of the great things about Amanda is she's accessible to fans on social media. The 1000-lb Sisters star loves to do Q&A sessions by selecting questions from the comment section. During a recent Instagram Q&A, Amanda made comments that could mean she thinks the show has a future. A fan in the comment section asked Amanda for recent photos of the Slaton siblings, wanting to see how they currently looked.
"I'd love to see how you all look now"
The comment then asked Amanda if any of the Slatons had skin removal surgery. Amanda explained the Slaton siblings weren't allowed to share photos due to the non-disclosure agreements. "But please stay tuned," said Amanda, "because the best is always yet to come." Though Amanda's comment doesn't mean the show was confirmed, it does at least mean that Amanda believed 1000-lb Sisters hadn't been canceled yet.
2 Amanda Has A Lot To Learn
Her Health Journey Is Far From Over
Recently, Amanda posted a concerning Instagram video filmed at the hospital. She explained that she'd been in the hospital for three days. The 1000-lb Sisters season 7 had been feeling ill with what sounded like a respiratory illness when she ended up blacking out one night. Her children and her boyfriend convinced her to go to the ER, and she was admitted to the hospital. "I am finally home after a three-stay [in] the hospital," wrote Amanda. "For now we wait for a diagnosis and treatment plan." The 1000-lb Sisters star went on to encourage people to get regular checkups.
All five Slaton siblings have had bariatric surgery and lost significant amounts of weight since the premiere of 1000-lb Sisters season 6.
This may serve as a wake-up call to Amanda. Just because she had bariatric surgery doesn't mean she's on top of her health. Her knee injury did sideline her for a while, but she'll have less of an excuse moving forward. Fans of 1000-lb Sisters may recall it was a health crisis that scared a reluctant Tammy to finally commit to losing weight, and Amanda could go down that same path. With so much left to do, Amanda would probably agree to return to the show.
