"1000-Yard Stare!": Married At First Sight Season 18's Madison Myers' Eye Contact With Allen Slovick Says It All (They Are So, So Doomed)

As Madison Myers’ marriage to her Married At First Sight husband Allen Slovick continues to unravel, her blank stare shows just how unfulfilled she is in her relationship. Madison, 29, and Allen, 35, appeared to have a promising connection when they met on their wedding day. They share a similar sense of humor, and both work in software implementation. However, Allen’s confidence took a hit when he learned that he wasn’t Madison’s usual type. The situation worsened when Madison began criticizing Allen’s appearance and clothing choices, confirming that she wasn’t physically attracted to him.

Although Madison and Allen continue to work on their marriage, the imbalance between the couple doesn't bode well. Allen’s made it clear that he’s crazy about Madison, while her responses range from reserved to repulsed. Allen has worked to improve his appearance by going to the gym, straightening his teeth, and allowing Madison to pick out his clothes, but it’s becoming clear that nothing will be good enough for her. Madison’s retreating from her marriage and staying out all night amid rising suspicions that she’s growing closer to her costar, David Trimble.

Madison Looks Down On Allen

Her Cold Gaze Reveals Her Disinterest

Madison acts like she’s working to build a connection with Allen, but her body language and the way she looks at him reveal her true feelings. Madison has nothing but cold glares for Allen, who remains eager to please his wife. Although she says the right things to make it look like she’s giving him a fair chance, her eyes say much more.

The way Madison looks at Allen mirrors her attitude that she’s better than him. From the start of their marriage, she acted like he was unworthy of her because she is young, successful, and beautiful. Her disdainful stares reinforce this attitude - she always puts Allen down by reminding him that she’s not interested.

Madison Isn't Trying Very Hard

She’s Retreating From Her Unhappy Marriage

Each time Madison and Allen seem to be getting on the right track, she finds a way to sabotage their relationship. The night they returned from their honeymoon, Madison went out with friends instead of settling into her and Allen’s new home. This pattern continued as their marriage progressed, with Madison spending more and more time out partying into the early morning hours. Her habit of running away from her problems sends a clear message to Allen that she isn’t interested in working things out.

Allen’s bending over backwards to fit Madison’s idea of what a perfect man should be, but she isn’t willing to change for him.

Allen’s bending over backwards to fit Madison’s idea of what a perfect man should be, but she isn’t willing to change for him. She expects Allen to make all the compromises. Madison isn’t acknowledging all the effort Allen’s putting in, and she certainly isn’t making that much of an effort herself.

Madison Doesn't Have Much Compassion

She’s Driving Allen Away With Her Lack Of Empathy

As Madison's treatment of Allen continues its downward trend, her lack of compassion could spell the end of their marriage. She rebuffs Allen’s romantic gestures, even responding to his vision of growing old together with “forever’s a long time.” Madison doesn’t seem sympathetic towards Allen’s position - he is married to a woman who isn’t interested in him. She could save their relationship by seeing his point of view and softening her feedback. Instead, her icy behavior pushes Allen away.

As Married At First Sight season 18 nears its end, it appears Allen may soon reach a breaking point. As speculation grows that Madison is involved in the cast couple swap, Allen’s losing patience. His wife couldn't be less interested and attentive. If Allen decides he’s done putting in effort only to be repeatedly rejected, Madison will have nobody to blame but herself. Her resentment of him is palpable, and he may bail out, so he can find someone who really cares about him.

Married At First Sight airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on Lifetime.
