BAGUIO CITY – The Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club (BCBC) will again reward at least seven persons with four days and three nights of free stay in this summer capital under the annual search for Lucky Summer Visitors (LSV) program.
Dionisio Dennis Jr., president of the BCBC, said the winners must be first-time visitors.
“We have other surprise criteria that the selection committee members have agreed on in looking for the winners. The chosen lucky visitors will receive free accommodation, guided tours, free transportation and accommodation, and gifts,” he said.
This year's search will also have an on-the-spot sketching activity with local artists.
“The search will be done in Pugo, La Union where personnel of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Philippine National Police, Department of Tourism and the BCBC will flag down public utility buses passing the area that originated in Metro Manila on Thursday (April 17),” he said.
The search committee will do the screening inside buses and once chosen, the LSV will alight from the vehicle with their belongings.
“Their treat will start from the time they are ferried to Baguio City. The local officials of the municipality of Tuba will receive them with a short cultural briefing, distribution of tokens and a native snack for the whole group. They usually give the first token composed of products from the town,” Dennis said.
The convoy will then proceed to the Baguio City hall for the reception with local officials, followed by the check in at Hotel Supreme which has been the LSV home for decades.
Among the destinations the winners will visit are Northern Blossom in the municipality of Atok, Benguet; Strawberry Farm in La Trinidad for the picking activity; Polig farm visit in Tublay; and Camp John Hay, Wright Park, and Presidential Museum at The Mansion in this city.
“They are called lucky visitors because they will get to experience a vacation that is not common, with motorcycle cops sweeping the road to allow passage. This will never happen again to the them. It is a once in a lifetime activity with the chance to meet mayors, governors and other officials,” Dennis said. (PNA)
