Access Gallery Helps Disabled Artists Succeed

As of January, only 20 percent of Americans with intellectual or physical disabilities were employed. Access Gallery, in the Art District on Santa Fe, is trying to improve that statistic: Since 1978, the nonprofit has offered training, mentorship, and display space to disabled artists. Access also teams up with outside creatives for shows, including an exhibit from April 6 to May 4 featuring MRI brain scans that have been transformed into everything from 3-D models to digital art. While the event is free, all works are for sale, and every purchase will benefit Access’ programs—which means the gallery can continue turning creativity into economic opportunity.
