After a Very Long Delay, Anime's Top Isekai Won't Make Us Wait Years for Season 4

After the season 3 finale, season 4 of Re:Zero was immediately announced, alongside a teaser trailer and two gorgeous key visuals, showing that there was indeed significant progress made already. This was the first time this has happened for the franchise, as there was usually a gap between a season ending and a new season being announced. The voice actor of protagonist Natsuki Subaru, Yuusuke Kobayashi, confirmed that they would not keep fans waiting for long, stating, "Did you really think that we'd keep you waiting another 4 years? We wouldn't!!"

Fortunately, the decision to split the seasons, if that is what happened, was great and will only enhance the quality of production.
It seems like Kobayashi acknowledged a popular joke in the fandom about the 4-year wait between seasons 1 and 2, and has promised that such a wait would never happen again. For reference, Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World season 2 started airing in January 2021 and ended in March, and season 3 started airing in October 2024 and concluded this month, with a break in between. No official reason is listed for this gap, especially for an anime as huge as Re:Zero, though it's likely the pandemic played a role.

With Subaru and his friends heading to Pleiades Watchtower, Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World could very well be coming back in 2026, and a release in either Fall or Winter is very possible. The series has only become more amazing content-wise since the second season, and season 3 showed just how amazing Re:Zero's animation was, so the 4 year gap was more than worth the wait.
