After The Husband's Introduction In The White Lotus Season 3 Episode 7, I'm More Convinced That This Dark Rick Theory Will Be Right

Warning: SPOILERS ahead for The White Lotus season 3, episode 7, "Killer Instincts."The White Lotusseason 3, episode 7 finally introduces Sritala's husband — and although Rick believes he killed his father, their encounter in "Killer Instincts" makes me think another, darker theory is true. Rick and Frank visit Sritala and Jim in The White Lotus season 3, episode 7, and Rick confronts the latter in his study. Walton Goggins' Rick even pulls a gun on Jim, though he doesn't actually use it. He does knock Jim's chair over after leveling several accusations at him, however, including that one of his deals led to Rick's father's death.

Rick spends most of The White Lotus season 3 stewing in his resentment against Jim, but Jim doesn't seem to know what he's talking about in "Killer Instincts." Although it's possible he doesn't remember the death he's supposedly responsible for, a popularWhite Lotus season 3 theory posits that Jim actually is Rick's father. And after their confrontation in the latest installment, I'm more convinced that this is the true connection between these characters.

Rick's Mother May Have Lied About His Father's Death

Jim's response to Rick's accusations in The White Lotus season 3, episode 7 doesn't confirm or deny his involvement in his father's death. However, there are some clues that support Jim being Rick's dad. When Rick mentions his mother's name — Gloria Hatchett — Jim seems to recognize it. But he shakes his head when Rick suggests that she had a husband, and he then repeats her name incredulously as Rick continues his tirade. It's possible Jim's confusion stems from the fact that he knows Gloria but isn't familiar with the rest of Rick's story.

After all, the theory that Jim is Rick's father suggests that Rick's mother lied about what happened to him (via Mashable). We know that Rick never met his father, and he even admits that he doesn't "know all the details" about the land dispute that allegedly led to his death. His mother gives him Jim's name and claims that he's responsible on her deathbed. However, if she was angry or heartbroken after their tryst, she may have lied to Rick his whole life — and even purposely set Jim up in her final moments.

Jim Could Track Him Down & Reveal The Truth

Rick doesn't go through with killing Jim in episode 7, and this sets up a more exciting twist in The White Lotus season 3's finale. With Jim still alive, there's room to confirm or debunk the idea that he's Rick's father. He knows that Rick is staying at the White Lotus resort in Thailand, so it's possible he'll track him down and tell him the truth. If this theory proves correct, the HBO series needs to confirm it somehow. Perhaps the characters will have another encounter to do so.

And even if The White Lotus season 3isn't going for this particular twist, it needs to explain Jim's reaction to Rick's accusations. Although it's possible he doesn't remember the deal or people it affected, there must be a reason he remembers Rick's mother's name. The series can't leave that detail hanging in the finale, necessitating another twist.
