Presently operating from a makeshift campus at a former private IT college in Meeransahab, AIIMS Jammu has admitted four batches of MBBS students (2020-2023). The forthcoming super-specialty hospital is poised to accommodate 750 beds, featuring trauma and emergency beds, ICU facilities, operation theatres, a helipad, and state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment such as MRI, CT, and Cath Lab. Authorities are actively planning the establishment of Distance Education Centres and a Simulation Laboratory equipped with the latest Artificial Intelligence innovations to enhance the learning experience.

In addition to hospital and academic blocks, the campus will include a night shelter, Ayush building, convention center, guesthouse, and club. Six hostel buildings catering to married and unmarried UG/PG students, separate residential blocks for nursing students, and gender-segregated dining halls are all in progress, ensuring a comprehensive and conducive environment for education and healthcare excellence.

The Nursing College of AIIMS Jammu has already commenced operations, admitting 60 candidates for BSc Nursing. Dr Gupta, a key figure in the project, mentioned that upon completion, the annual MBBS intake would increase to 100 seats, while AIIMS Jammu would consistently admit 60 candidates for BSc Nursing each year. In the initial phase, practical training for MBBS students was conducted in Rishikesh (Uttarakhand), but now, all practical courses are efficiently managed at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, in close proximity to AIIMS Jammu's makeshift headquarters, and at a Government Hospital in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.

In addition to cutting-edge medical education and services, AIIMS Jammu is enhancing its infrastructure with a host of facilities, including a community shopping center, open-air theatre, animal facility, solid waste management, electric substation, solar energy charging station, solar street lights, fire station, police post, swimming pool, gymnasium, 24x7 digital library, stadium, fully air-conditioned indoor sports complex, and a crèche for babies.
