MANILA – AirAsia Philippines announced assured Friday it is ready to accommodate an estimated 150,000 passengers heading to Aklan for the Ati-Atihan Festival.
AirAsia serves Aklan province with three daily flights via Kalibo and nine daily via Caticlan.
"We take pride in supporting tourism, trade and overall economic development in the Western Visayas Region," AirAsia Philippines chief executive officer Ricky Isla said in a statement.
The low-cost airline's passengers to and from Aklan reached 1.3 million in 2024, making the province a key route in the airline's growth.
Isla said AirAsia is committed to its partnership with the local government of Aklan in pushing for initiatives that will be beneficial in ensuring the continued success of the travel and tourism industry.
“AirAsia is a vital partner in the continued growth and success of Aklan province. By providing affordable and convenient travel options, the airline plays a significant role in attracting tourists, stimulating the local economy, and contributing to the sustainable development of the province," Aklan Governor Joen Miraflores was quoted in an AirAsia.
"This collaboration will not only enhance our tourism industry but also facilitate the discovery of other captivating destinations in mainland Aklan, thereby creating a diverse and enriching travel experience that complements Boracay's enticing qualities as a premier island beach destination," Miraflores added.
Isla said AirAsia will also focus on efforts to support local festivities this year. (PNA)
