Serie A - Salernitana vs Juventus Allegri

Massimiliano Allegri’s mentor, Giovanni Galeone, says the Livorno-born coach wants to remain in Turin beyond the summer and suggests to the Old Lady to sign Noni Madueke from Chelsea.

Juventus are going through a tough time as they only earned one point in the last three Serie A matches, losing the last two against Inter and Udinese.

Massimiliano Allegri is under pressure despite having a contract expiring in June 2025.

The Old Lady will meet their coach soon to discuss a possible contract extension and Max’s mentor Galeone, a former Serie A coach, feels Allegri wants to remain at the Allianz Stadium beyond June.

“I think Max wants to stay at Juventus. He has a year left in his contract, and he’s happy with young players,” Galeone told Gazzetta.

“If he qualifies for the Champions League, it’s fair to make him stay. Even the club have recognised his value, also in difficult moments.”

Galeone had predicted a tough game against Udinese but did not expect a second consecutive defeat for the Old Lady.

“I knew the Udinese game would be tough and I had talked about it with Max, but I didn’t expect another defeat,” he said.

“Let’s be honest. If [Inter coach] Simone Inzaghi does not rotate, nobody has a chance in Italy. Even the Bianconeri understood after the game in Milan that there is too much difference. Probably, the confidence in making it, disappeared after that night.”

Galeone feels Juventus title hopes have vanished and Allegri has the same view.

“I don’t believe in it, and neither does Max,” said Galeone.

“It’s no coincidence that Allegri has always said the main target is the Champions League and that Inter are title favourites.

“Max needs at least three reinforcements to be on the same level as Inter,” continued Galeone.

“An important centre-back,  a top-class midfielder and one striker if Federico Chiesa leaves. I imagine Yildiz will have more space next season, he’s a great talent.”

So, which players would he get in the summer?

“I would have signed Berardi last summer, but now my favourite is Chelsea’s Madueke. I’ve been talking to Max about this guy born in 2002 for a long time, but I don’t know if it’s feasible for Juventus.”

Madueke, 21, has scored four goals in 19 appearances with Chelsea this season and his contract at Stamford Bridge expires in June 2030.
