As Indiahikes’ Aarogya Seva Grows in Karchi, 38 Residents Receive Care in Its Third Clinic
Across regions such as Karchi, Lohajung, Sari, and Gaichawan Gaon, where we run our treks, we have now conducted six Aarogya Seva clinics with the support of multiple doctors who volunteered their time.
These clinics are not meant to stand alone. They are part of a longer journey—of showing up consistently, building trust, and slowly improving access to healthcare in the mountains.
What Happened in The Third Aarogya Seva Clinic at Karchi
For this clinic, we were joined by Dr. Isha Desai, a general physician, who conducted consultations for patients from Karchi over the course of the day.
A total of 38 people attended the medical clinic.
Most of them were elderly residents, many seeking care for long-standing health concerns that had not been addressed in a while. The clinic ran for nearly five to six hours, allowing each consultation the time and attention it needed.
The clinic coincided with a village meeting, so there was a stronger presence of Mahila Mandal Dal and authorities in Karchi that day.
This created an unexpected but meaningful overlap. Members of the Mahila Mandal Dal visited our Aarogya Seva camp, engaged with the initiative, and expressed their appreciation.
Dr. Isha was formally welcomed by the Adhyaksh of the Mahila Mandal Dal, Smt. Anita Devi, who felicitated the doctor at the start of the programme.
What stayed with us from that day
For many, it wasn’t just about a consultation, but about immediate relief and reassurance.
Having a doctor in the village, the space to speak about health concerns, and the reassurance of follow-up guidance made a difference to how people experienced the day and began to see Indiahikes Aarogya Seva.
For Dr. Isha as well, the day was meaningful. She mentioned that she would be keen to join us again for future Aarogya Seva programmes.
And for us, it was a reassuring reminder of why this work matters.
How we are looking at the future of Aarogya Seva:
Each Aarogya Seva clinic adds another layer of understanding for us, about the health realities of Himalayan villages and about the role consistent medical outreach can play in these regions.
As we continue to conduct these clinics, our aim remains steady: to show up, listen carefully, and make healthcare a little more reachable.
As a single organisation, our reach on its own is limited. But through the steady flow of nearly 35,000 trekkers who travel to the mountains with us each year, Aarogya Seva has the potential to create a wider, collective impact over time.

Aarogya Seva is a completely voluntary programme. There is no exchange of money involved. Villagers are not charged for consultations or medicines, but they deeply value the time, care, and attention offered.
