At Last, Crunchyroll's Best Isekai Just Dropped a First Look at Its Next Anime Special: Watch
If you love KonoSuba: God' Blessing on This Wonderful World!and are still trying to recover from the ending of the long-awaited season 3, do not fear. The series is coming back with an anime special soon, and there is an amazing new trailer freshly released that hypes up the upcoming KonoSuba OVA.
Fans who waited seven long years for KonoSuba season 3 got good news in late 2024, with the announcement of an OVA (original video animation) that will hit Japanese theaters on March 14, 2025. A two-disc BD and DVD will be released on April 25, 2025. While the short teaser that accompanied the announcement was enough to get fans excited, a brand-new full trailer is here to build the hype surrounding this smash-hit isekai even more.
KonoSuba Upcoming OVA Will Consist of Two Episodes
A Taste Before Season 4?
Shared by the official KonoSuba X account, this trailer gives fans a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming OVA, officially titled KonoSuba 3 Bonus Stage. As an OVA, this will be an original story, thus not adapted from the light novels that built up the success of this series, a pioneer in the isekai genre. Fans can rest assured that this special will deliver the same mix of humor and action that made KonoSuba so famous.
It's hard to stand out among the crowded isekai genre, but Konosuba managed to do that by never taking itself too seriously, delivering a hilarious parody of the genre itself and of many fantasy stereotypes. Unfortunately, there is still no word about a fourth season of the anime, but with ten light novel volumes left to adapt, there should be no obstacles on the way. This upcoming OVA is surely a sign that Kadokawa is still at work on the series, which bodes well for season 4.
The KonoSuba OVA Will Come With Lots of Nice Extras
According to the official description, this OVA will include two separate episodes with very different settings. In "Red Stream Explosion!", Kazuma and his party need to help the town of Axel deal with an approaching typhoon, which will set the stage for a much-anticipated "beach episode". In "Beware of Impostors!", instead, the setting changes to winter, and will feature Kazuma meeting a new party of adventurers.
For the lucky fans who will watch the OVA in theaters, a special prize awaits: an original story written by KonoSuba author Natsume Akatsuki, titled "The Fuyu Shogun Returns", in addition to a chance to buy the Blu-ray and DVD in advance. The disc edition released internationally will also include the original story, along with other extras, making sure that they won't miss any KonoSuba content.
KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! 3 Bonus Stage will be screened for two weeks only in Japanese theatres from March 14, 2025. The Blu-ray and DVD will be on sale from April 25, 2025.
