Baldur's Gate 3 Is Getting A Long-Awaited Update Next Week, With Crossplay And More
The much-anticipated Patch 8 update for Baldur's Gate 3 is coming next week, adding crossplay, new classes, and much more to the acclaimed RPG. Baldur's Gate 3 has gotten a consistent stream of updates and community support since its full release in August 2023, despite the game never getting a DLC expansion. The game previously spent almost three years in early access, and now, close to two years after the full launch, a slew of new features are coming that may be enough for fans to dive back into this deep RPG all over again.
According to the Baldur's Gate 3 developers, Patch 8 will be released on April 15. The patch is massive, with the update adding crossplay, letting players can play with each other regardless of platform, new subclasses to let players have different ways to customize characters, a Photo Mode, and even split-screen support for the Xbox Series S version of the game (via IGN). Patch 8 has been undergoing stress tests for a while, but now, the long-awaited patch will be available for all players next week.

Crossplay, New Subclasses, And More
What's probably the biggest and most requested addition is crossplay. Baldur's Gate 3 will let players on PC form a party with their friends on PlayStation or Xbox and embark on a Dungeons & Dragons-style adventure. In addition to crossplay, the Xbox Series S version will finally have split-screen support, which was originally only available on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC versions of the game and has been requested for a long time. There will also be 12 new subclasses for new character customization and gameplay opportunities. The new subclasses are as follows:
- Bard – College of Glamour
- Barbarian – Path of Giants
- Cleric – Death Domain
- Druid – Circle of Stars
- Paladin – Oath of the Crown
- Fighter – Arcane Archer
- Monk – Drunken Master
- Ranger – Swarmkeeper
- Rogue – Swashbuckler
- Sorcerer – Shadow Magic
- Warlock – Hexblade
- Wizard – Bladeslinging
Finally, a Photo Mode will be added that will include expansive settings, such as lens settings, scene settings, frames, and stickers.
