Below Deck Down Under's Wihan De Toit's Bad Behavior Could Harm The Franchise (He Seems Like A Producer Plant)

Below Deck Down Underseason 3 introduced Wihan Du Toit, who's faced some difficult moments aboard Katina this season, and whose behavior overall seems like it could be bad enough to not only be the work of a producer plant, but to harm the franchise at its core. Wihan, who joined Below Deck Down Under season 3 appearing to have a wide breadth of experience in yachting, has been a major disappointment. His unprofessional behavior began early in the season, and while he hasn't become a dangerous presence with the rest of the crew, he's not a positive one, either.

Wihan's overly relaxed attitude towards the entirety yachting has been difficult for the rest of the crew to handle, especially when dealing with difficult guests and complicated charters. Throughout the season, Wihan has proven that even with a higher level of experience in the industry, he hasn't been able to make his time aboard easier, and hasn't been able to pass knowledge onto other crew members. While Wihan has been stirring up drama all season, his untimely role on the show seemed like more of a producer plant than a genuine cast member, making his finally-relieved tenure even more difficult.

Letting Wihan go became his only option after the concerning bunk drama.

He Wasn't A Comfortable Presence

Although Wihan's behavior hasn't been as difficult as some Below Deck alumni when it comes to the women of the crew, he hasn't been a safe or comfortable person for the women of the season. Wihan's consistent difficulties with the women of the crew, like his minor flirtation with Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph and his interest in stew Brianna Duffield, have proven that he's looking out for himself rather than others. Wihan's boatmance with Adair Werley, a deck/stew aboard Katina, has been tough to watch as well, especially considering how long he waited to tell her about his feelings.

While Wihan may not have poor intentions, it feels like the way he's gone about sharing his feelings has been tough for others to handle. Wihan has been open to an extent, but seems closed off in some ways when it comes to the women aboard Katina. Now, with his strange behavior and play of mistaken identity with Alesia Harris crawling into bed with him when she believed it was Johnny Arvanitis, things have become increasingly strange surrounding Wihan's behavior and level of respect for women.

Wihan's Behavior Makes Captain Jason's Job Harder

He Never Acted In Support Of Captain Jason

Although Below Deck'sCaptain Jason Chambers has been involved with Wihan's odd behavior in moments, it's become clear that he's more concerned about the safety of Katina and how Wihan is or isn't contributing to that. Captain Jason has always been a man of the people, and his crew has been lodging complaints about Wihan consistently enough for him to know there's a problem. While Wihan may not be well-liked, his inability to work through the ship's dockings and standard exterior responsibilities has made Captain Jason's life much harder than a few unhappy crew members.

Was Wihan's Firitng Justified?

He Wasn't A Good Fit For Katina's Exterior Team

Although Wihan was able to squeak by with his responsibilities originally, his overall performance definitely made it seem like he should be let go. Captain Jason, who typically has a higher tolerance for the crew's behavior than other captains, began taking things with Wihan more seriously as the charter season continued. While he wasn't ready originally, letting Wihan go became his only option after the concerning bunk drama. Wihan's behavior has been too much for Below Deck Down Under viewers, and it was more than time to see him fired from Katina during the last episode.

Below Deck Down Under airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
