Haryana- The Bhagat Phool Singh Women's Medical College in Khanpur will soon get a new expansion of a hospital building in the third phase worth Rs 419.13 crore.

Its foundation stone has already been laid by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on the birth anniversary of Bhagat Phool Singh. The new building will be constructed by the National Building Construction Corporation and is expected to be completed in the next three years.

The new building will include a 250-bed mother and child hospital, colleges for nursing, paramedical & physiotherapy, hostels, residential accommodations and a guest house. Along with this, the institute is also planning to increase MBBS seats by 30 more seats to 150, currently, there are 120 seats. Residential accommodation will also be developed for D1 and D2 employees as many employees have to live outside the premises which causes inconvenience to them.

Speaking to The Tribune, college director Dr Jagdish Chander Dureja said “A 250-bed mother and child block would be built near the main casualty building and would be interconnected within the main hospital. Along with this, Nursing students’ hostel, MBBS students’ hostel, PG doctors’ hostel, student dining block, public canteen, expansion of lecture theatre, and medical college block will be constructed”.

Dr Dureja also added, “After the construction of colleges for nursing, paramedical and physiotherapy, well-trained staff as per international standards will be provided, which will be very helpful for patient care”.

BPSWMC was started in 2009 and made functional in 2011 and subsequently running Post-Graduation (PG) courses in all specialities since 2015. However, there was no PG hostel on the campus and hence, an exclusive PG doctors' hostel would also be built.

The Director further added “There is no guest house on the campus to accommodate the external examiners and other delegates, who come to the institution to attend seminars, workshops and conferences from distant places. There was no provision of stay for guests of faculty members, staff and students. A guest house, containing 16 VIP rooms and four VIP suites, would be constructed on the campus”.
