California Dreamin’

In a city full of transplants, it’s only natural that new Denverites carry little pieces of home with them. For Californian Sarah Markway, that thing was fashion. The former Los Angeles–based buyer and stylist’s Highland store, RusticThread, opened last August, bringing affordable, West Coast–influenced women’s clothing and accessories to the Centennial State. In the cozy brick-and-wood space, Markway offers sharp style advice and wardrobe direction as customers browse through racks of summer essentials, such as effortless, boho-chic maxi and tunic dresses by Tiare Hawaii. Your best bet: Stop by on First Fridays for brand launches—this month’s party (June 6, from 5 to 8 p.m.) features SoCal brand RVCA and casual lifestyle company Velvet Heart—and local jewelry designer trunk shows.
