MANILA – Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific (CEB) has catered to 5.6 million passengers via the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), almost half of the airport's passenger volume of 11.3 million in 2024.

“Cebu Pacific’s continued growth in Cebu reflects the strong demand for affordable and accessible air travel in Central Visayas," CEB president Xander Lao said in a statement on Monday.

The Gokongwei-led airline's Cebu flights grew by 34.7 percent or 4,824 in January this year compared to 3,580 in January 2024.

CEB added its seat capacity also increased by 51.6 percent, or 717,000 from almost 473,000.

"By increasing our flights and seat capacity, we are not only connecting more passengers but also supporting tourism, trade, and economic opportunities across the region,” Lao said.

CEB connects MCIA to six international destinations: Bangkok, Incheon, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Osaka, and Singapore.

From Cebu, the airline also flies to 24 domestic routes: Bacolod, Boracay, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Calbayog, Camiguin, Clark, Coron, Legazpi, Davao, Dipolog, Dumaguete, General Santos, Iloilo, Manila, Masbate, Ozamis, Pagadian, Puerto Princesa, San Vicente, Siargao, Surigao, Tacloban and Zamboanga.

CEB's network serves a total of 37 domestic and 26 international destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. (PNA)
