Civ 7: All Attribute Tree Legend Unlocks & How To Get Them
Civilization 7's new Legends and Mementos meta-progression system includes Attribute Tree Legend Unlocks. This is a fancy way of saying that certain attributes in each leader's Attribute Trees cannot be accessed until you level them up. Attribute Trees are leader-based skill trees that have been divided into six categories: Economic, Militaristic, Diplomatic, Expansionist, Cultural, and Scientific. Selecting a "node" on one of these trees grants the leader special bonuses or effects, such as increased city growth or Settlement limit. Every leader in Civ 7 has two locked nodes in these trees that can be unlocked by leveling up their Legend level.
These locked nodes can be a little confounding at first, as it isn't intuitive in-game exactly how to unlock them. Ultimately, this requires repeated playthroughs with each individual leader, as you'll need to get a leader to level 7 for their second Unlock. The specific locked nodes correspond to each leader's attributes, which can be seen during leader selection. For example, Catherine the Great has Cultural Scientific attributes, meaning she will unlock the Cultural node at level 3 and the Scientific at Level 7. Here's a look at all Attribute Tree Legend Unlocks, what they do, and who can unlock them.
Economic Attribute Tree Legend Unlock & Leaders
Grants A Gold Bonus For Trade & Treasure Fleets
The Economic Attribute Tree Legend Unlock is an excellent bonus that is extremely useful in the Exploration Age but will be helpful during every Age when pursuing an Economic Victory. This unlock provides +25% Gold from Trade and Treasure Fleets, giving leaders a major boost to their treasury in the Exploration Age after establishing Treasure Fleets in the Distant Lands.
Economic Unlock: +25% Gold from Trade and Treasure Fleets | |
---|---|
Amina | Level 3 |
Hatshepsut | Level 7 |
Ibn Battuta | Level 3 |
Isabella | Level 7 |
Machiavelli | Level 7 |
Napoleon, Emperor | Level 3 |
Pachacuti | Level 3 |
Xerxes, King of Kings | Level 3 |
Xerxes, the Achaemenid | Level 7 |
Leaders who benefit most from this node include Isabella, whose Gold yields during the Exploration Age are already substantial due to her Seven Cities of Gold ability that awards extra Gold for discovering Natural Wonders in the Distant Lands. Any Leader or Civilization with an Economic tag should be a solid choice.
Militaristic Attribute Tree Legend Unlock & Leaders
Enhances Combat Strength For Siege Warfare
The Militaristic Attribute Tree Legend Unlock awards all units +5 Combat Strength against Districts and will enhance siege tactics when pursuing any form of Military Legacy Path across the Ages. If you're pursuing Civ 7's Domination Victory, choose a leader with access to this node to make your efforts slightly easier, as you have to defeat all districts to conquer a Settlement and all Settlements for a Domination win.
Militaristic Unlock: +5 Combat Strength for all Units against Districts | |
---|---|
Amina | Level 7 |
Ashoka, World Conqueror | Level 7 |
Charlemagne | Level 3 |
Friedrich, Baroque | Level 3 |
Friedrich, Oblique | Level 3 |
Harriet Tubman | Level 7 |
Napoleon, Revolutionary | Level 3 |
Tecumseh | Level 3 |
Trung Trac | Level 3 |
Xerxes, King of Kings | Level 7 |
When combined with other siege-warfare buffs, this extra damage can actually make a pretty big difference. Leaders that have access to this node include Napoleon, Friedrich, and Charlemagne.
Diplomatic Attribute Tree Legend Unlock & Leaders
Improves & Worsens Relationships Faster
The Diplomatic Attribute Tree Legend Unlock has two effects, both related to Influence and Diplomacy. This node increases relationships by 25% when starting or supporting an Endeavor, and/or decreases relationships by 25% for starting Sanctions or rejecting Endeavors. This can be useful in many different situations, as positive/negative relationships benefit certain leaders differently.
Diplomatic Unlock: +25% Relationship from starting or supporting Endeavors. -25% Relationship from starting Sanctions or rejecting Endeavors. | |
---|---|
Ashoka, World Conqueror | Level 3 |
Ashoka, World Renouncer | Level 3 |
Benjamin Franklin | Level 3 |
Harriet Tubman | Level 3 |
Himiko, High Shaman | Level 7 |
Himiko, Queen of Wa | Level 3 |
Jose Rizal | Level 7 |
Lafayette | Level 7 |
Machiavelli | Level 3 |
Napoleon, Emperor | Level 7 |
Tecumseh | Level 7 |
For example, Himiko's Queen of Wa persona grants +4 Science for each Friendly relationship, while Napoleon's Emperor persona gains Gold for Hostile and Unfriendly relationships. Maintaining relationships is an integral part of gameplay, and this node will help establish allies and adversaries more quickly.
Expansionist Attribute Tree Legend Unlock & Leaders
Makes Converting A Town To A City Cheaper
The Expansionist Attribute Tree Legend Unlock provides +50% Gold towards converting a Town to a City. Converting Towns to Cities is part of Civ 7's new system for establishing and developing an empire, and finding the right town-to-city balance is essential for any civilization.
Expansionist Unlock: +50% Gold towards converting a Town to a City. | |
---|---|
Ashoka, World Renouncer | Level 7 |
Augustus | Level 7 |
Confucius | Level 3 |
Ibn Battuta | Level 7 |
Isabella | Level 3 |
Pachacuti | Level 7 |
This half-off discount for upgrades goes a long way, especially without the Economic Golden Ages that allow cities to persist across the Ages. This node is especially useful at the start of a new Age when all cities reset to towns, requiring players to spend Gold for the desired number of cities.
Cultural Attribute Tree Legend Unlock & Leaders
Increases Production Based On Great Work Slots
The Cultural Attribute Tree Legend Unlock increases production toward constructing Buildings and Wonders that hold Great Works. Great Works change and reset with each Age, and only certain Buildings or Wonders are able to hold each new type.
For example, Academies have three Codex slots, the Antiquity Age Great Works, but will not hold Exploration Age Relics. This means that each Age requires specific Great Work buildings to be constructed, and this Attribute node will help with that significantly.
Cultural Unlock: +15% towards constructing Buildings and Wonders with Great Works slots. | |
---|---|
Augustus | Level 3 |
Catherine the Great | Level 3 |
Friedrich, Baroque | Level 7 |
Hatshepsut | Level 3 |
Himiko, High Shaman | Level 3 |
Jose Rizal | Level 3 |
Lafayette | Level 3 |
Napoleon, Revolutionary | Level 7 |
Xerxes, The Achaemenid | Level 3 |
The Exploration and Modern Age Great Works are a central part of the Cultural Legacy Paths for their Ages, making this node useful for a Culture Victory. Some of these buildings can be useful for other victory conditions, though, so the unlock isn't necessarily a waste when going for a different victory type.
Scientific Attribute Tree Legend Unlock & Leaders
Boosts Gold, Production & Science Yields
The Scientific Attribute Tree Legend Unlock provides +1 adjacency bonuses to standard Gold, Production, and Science Buildings and is very useful in developing dense urban cities for leaders such as Confucius or Trung Trac. These effects are additive and stack with the various other adjacency bonuses that can be acquired through the same Attribute Tree or the many other bonuses throughout the game.
Gold, Production, and Science are the drivers for a Scientific Victory throughout each Age, and this node will help specific leaders advance toward a Scientific Victory much faster. All three are also highly useful for playthroughs of every sort, so it could be one of the most widely applicable legend unlocks in Civ 7.
Scientific Unlock: +1 to the adjacencies of standard Gold, Production, and Science Buildings. | |
---|---|
Benjamin Franklin | Level 7 |
Catherine the Great | Level 7 |
Charlemagne | Level 7 |
Confucius | Level 7 |
Friedrich, Oblique | Level 7 |
Himiko, Queen of Wa | Level 7 |
Trung Trac | Level 7 |
Overall, Attribute Tree Legend Unlocks are among the most powerful bonuses available in the Attribute Trees and give specific leaders an advantage. These are only going to be available if you complete campaigns with each individual leader, encouraging repeated playthroughs. The way Legend Unlocks and the Legends system in general are set up means that you won't really have access to the full capacity of any given leader until you max out their levels. If you want a leg up over your competition in Civilization 7, leveling leaders up and unlocking their full Attribute Trees is a surefire method.
