Civ 7: All Unique Buildings, Quarters, & Improvements In The Antiquity Age
Civilization 7’s different civilizations have their own unique qualities, including special buildings and tile improvements. This unique infrastructure is often tied to a given civilization’s overall strategies by providing bonuses to one of the in-game resources related to it. Although many aspects of the Antiquity Age won’t carry over as time advances, some unique buildings are Ageless and provide bonuses for the rest of the game.
The different Antiquity Age civilizations in Civ 7 can help give players a good starting position for their chosen style of victory. Although some have more unique buildings and upgrades than others, that doesn’t mean civilizations with less unique infrastructure are necessarily at a disadvantage. Understanding what each one does and how it ties into a civilization's larger strategy can help players decide which civilization is right for them, and works best with their chosen Civ 7 leader.
10 Unique Buildings, Quarters, & Improvements For Aksum
Aksum Has One Unique Building That Boosts Culture
Aksum only has one unique structure, which is the Hawilt. While this may seem like a disadvantage, Hawilts actually work best together, so it might be a good thing that Aksum doesn’t force players to have to choose between them and a different unique building. By stringing more Hawilts together on adjacent tiles, players can get a significant boost to their Culture. This can help advance the Civics tree, and help unlock Wonders needed to complete the Culture Legacy Path for the Antiquity Age.

Civ 7: Why Wars Should Persist Across Ages
In Sid Meier's Civilization 7, wars do not persist across the Ages, and all troops will be reset and diminished, and it's a big momentum killer.
Hawilts also produce extra Culture when next to a Wonder, making them a good way to benefit from the Culture Legacy Path as well as a good way to advance it. Hawilts need to be built on Flat tiles, which isn’t too restrictive of a requirement. This makes it a little easier to string them together and get a bigger bonus than some other unique buildings.
9 Unique Buildings, Quarters, & Improvements For Egypt
Egypt Has Two Unique Buildings And A Quarter That Grant A Variety Of Benefits
Egypt has a few different options for unique infrastructure, including two unique buildings and a unique quarter. Egypt’s unique buildings, the Mastaba and the Mortuary Temple, focus on the civilization’s two main strategic areas: economy and culture. The Mastaba will give a base yield of culture, while also giving bonuses for having Wonders and Desert tiles nearby. The Mortuary Temple gives a large base yield of gold, while also helping to provide some extra Happiness, a resource that all civilizations need to some extent.
Once a player has built a Mastaba and Mortuary Temple on the same tile, it will automatically be converted to a Necropolis quarter. While a Necropolis quarter doesn’t offer any consistent rewards, a 100-gold boost is a significant amount, especially for constructing a Wonder, which players are likely already planning to do. It’s smart to create a Necropolis in a city with high production that can more easily produce Wonders.
8 Unique Buildings, Quarters, & Improvements For Greece
Greek Buildings Boost Its Cultural And Diplomatic Strategy While Also Offering A Reward For Them
According to Civ 7’s description, Greek civilizations are built to focus on culture and diplomacy, which is reflected in its unique buildings. The Parthenon helps with both aspects, offering a boost to Culture as a base yield, while also providing extra influence if built on Rough tiles. It will also get a Culture boost by being next to any Wonders. While the Odeon doesn’t provide any Culture as a base yield, it does give extra Culture for each Quarter and Wonder that it is next to. Its base Happiness yield can also help ensure that a Settlement keeps running smoothly.
Greece’s unique quarter in Civ 7 is the Acropolis, which can be created by building both an Odeon and a Parthenon on the same tile. An Acropolis gives the Parthenon a bonus two Gold for each City-State its controller is the Suzerin of. This can be a nice payoff for a Greek civilization’s diplomatic endeavors with Civ 7’s independent powers.
7 Unique Buildings, Quarters, & Improvements For Han
Han Civilizations Can Construct A Great Wall For Defense
Similar to Aksum, Han civilizations only have access to one unique building, but this makes some amount of sense since players are meant to build many of them. Han civilizations can build the Great Wall, which can be constructed one segment at a time in a straight line. Each individual segment of the wall gives a base yield of Culture, and they provide additional Happiness for each adjacent Great Wall segment.

Civ 7: All Unique Units In The Antiquity Age
Civilization 7's Antiquity Age has ten civilizations, each with their own distinct and unique units, from Egypt's Medjay to Greece's Hoplites.
On top of resource yields, the Great Wall also provides an additional six Combat Strength to any units defending on a tile with a wall segment. Interestingly enough, the Han civilization is considered diplomatic and scientific, two aspects of the game that don’t gain any direct benefits from the Great Wall. However, the Great Wall can help keep Settlements safe and happy, allowing players to focus on what they’re really working toward without having to build up as strong of an army.
6 Unique Buildings, Quarters, & Improvements For Khmer
Khmer Buildings Offer A Game-Long Bonus For Food
Khmer is another civilization with just one unique building: the Baray. Players can only build one Baray per Settlement, but they offer a food bonus to every Floodplain in that settlement. While the effect can’t stack, it’s still nice that it just takes one building to give such a big boost across multiple tiles. Of course, the usefulness of a Baray is also pretty heavily tied into how many Floodplain tiles a given civilization has.
Another nice thing about Barays is that they are timeless. This means that their bonuses will carry over into the next two ages, which isn’t true for many other unique buildings. Though their bonus may be less powerful than some other unique buildings, having a bonus carry over from age to age can make up for that and then some.
5 Unique Buildings, Quarters, & Improvements For Maurya
Maurya Buildings Offer A Lot Of Happiness Benefits
The Mauryan civilization has several unique buildings that can be helpful for its focus on military strength and scientific development. Both the Dharamshala and the Vihara offer a base yield of three Happiness. Since going to war causes a decrease in Happiness, having a high Happiness yield is helpful for militaristic civilizations. Additionally, the Dharamshala will also give some Science bonuses if it’s next to a Quarter or Wonder.
By creating both unique buildings on the same tile, players can make a Matha quarter. Matha quarters provide an additional 10% Happiness to the entire Settlement they are built in, and a Settlement is allowed to have multiple Matha quarters. This can help players get an early start on conquering nearby civilizations if they are hoping to win a Civ 7 Military Victory later on without their Cities becoming too unhappy.
4 Unique Buildings, Quarters, & Improvements For Maya
Mayan Buildings Offer A Wide Range Of Bonuses
Civ 7’s Mayan civilization has three unique pieces of infrastructure, though they are focused more on Maya’s scientific focus than its diplomatic one. K’uh Nah buildings can offer a pretty significant yield of Science on the right tile, and will offer a decent base yield no matter what. Although a Jalaw is only focused on Happiness and Culture, all civilizations will want to advance their Civics Tree, even if Culture isn’t their main focus. Players will also need a Jalaw and a K’uh Nah to make an Uwaybil K’uh quarter.
Uwaybil K’uh quarters can be a great payoff for a civilization that is focused on Science. 15% of the Science cost for any Technology researched by the Mayan civilization will be converted into production by an Uwaybil K’uh quarter’s Settlement. This will make it easier for Settlements with an Uwaybil K’uh quarter to finish big projects like Wonders, or build more necessary upgrades.
3 Unique Buildings, Quarters, & Improvements For Mississipian
Mississipian Civilizations Get A Building That Helps With Expanding Its Borders
Although Mississipian civilizations only have one unique building, it is designed to help with the civ’s two main focuses: economics and expansion. The Potkop is a unique building that has a base yield of one Gold, and one Food for each Resource tile it is adjacent to. This resource bonus stacks with the Mississipian civilization ability, Goose Societies, which gives all buildings an additional Food when built next to resources. This can make Potkops a very nice source of food when placed on the right tiles.

Civ 7 Solved Old Problems, But Created New Ones
Civilization 7 addressed the problems it sought to solve, but introduced new ones that might be even bigger.
Food is important for an expansionist civilization like Mississipian ones because it helps Settlements grow. When Settlements have enough food, their population will increase and its borders will expand. Expanding borders can also help players incorporate more nearby resources into their civilization, which they can then build more Potkops to get even more bonuses.
2 Unique Buildings, Quarters, & Improvements For Persia
Persia’s Unique Building Helps Provide Extra Gold For The Rest Of The Game
Persia only has one unique building, but its relative strength helps make up for the civilization’s lack of additional unique infrastructure. Persia’s Pairidaeza is a unique building that gives one additional Culture and Gold. Although this doesn’t seem too powerful, it’s worth noting that these buildings are ageless, so these Culture and Gold bonuses will carry through the rest of the game. While two Pairidaeza can’t be next to one another, players can still make multiple of them throughout their civilization, helping to build up a solid base of bonuses for the rest of the game.
Persia is a militaristic and economic civilization in Civ 7, which is a pretty nice pair. The extra revenue generated by Pairidaeza won’t just be helpful for advancing a civilization economically, it can also be spent on making new military units without having to wait for them to be produced. Persian civilizations will likely want to crank out a good number of these buildings before their Civ 7 game advances to the Exploration Age.
1 Unique Buildings, Quarters, & Improvements For Rome
Rome Has The Most Long-Lasting Unique Buildings
Rome is focused on culture and military strength in Civ 7, which is reflected in its unique buildings and quarters. The Temple of Jupiter works well for both strategies, as its Happiness yield will help keep Settlements from getting disgruntled and it also produces extra Culture. The Temple of Jupiter is also ageless, so it will help keep Settlements happy as the ages advance, meaning it works well for a long-term military strategy.

Civ 7's New Mix & Match System Isn't For Everyone, But The Game Is Better Because Of It
Sid Meier's Civilization 7 features a new style of choosing leaders and civilizations which has taken the game even further away from history.
Although the Basilica focuses on Gold and Influence, instead of Happiness and Culture, both these resources can be helpful for Rome’s strategies. Gold can be especially helpful as it can purchase new troops or just pay for the upkeep on current ones. This building is also ageless, making Rome Civilization 7’s only Antiquity Age civ with two ageless buildings. Together, the buildings create a Forum which helps produce extra Culture and Gold.
