Cozy MMO Palia Is Coming To Consoles In May With New Expansion And Return Of Popular Rewards Program
The cozy cooperative MMO Palia is coming to consoles this May, bringing a brand-new expansion with it. The free title is an ambitious project from indie dev Singularity 6, now owned by Daybreak, that aims to give the cozy community an in-game place to explore, craft, and hang out. Palia was only available on the Nintendo Switch and PC, but that's about to change next month as the game prepares to make the jump to a broader audience with a console release.
Palia will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on May 13 with full cross-play support across all its platforms. The MMO's console debut will be paired with the Elderwood expansion, which will add an entire new area for players to explore. The new location, which was shown off in a trailer on the Palia YouTube channel, is shrouded in a dark and spooky atmosphere and offers a great reason to jump into (or jump back into) the game when it hits consoles.
May 13 also marks the return of the popular "Refer A Friend" program, which rewards players for referring friends to the game. The reward gift this time is an adorable in-game "Elderwood Fun Guy" plushie.
The Elderwood Expansion Brings A Whimsical Mushroom Forest To Palia
A Brand New Area For Players To Explore
The forests of Elderwood are imbued in a purple haze and consist of massive glowing mushrooms and flowers growing up high above players' heads. The new area brings a new dimension to the game, encouraging vertical exploration. Players can climb up the steep, thick trunks of the mystical trees and bounce on mushrooms to send them flying up high in the sky. The new area comes with a continuation of the story, complete with new lore to dig up and surprises to uncover.

All Old Coin Locations In Palia (& How To Use Them)
The Old Coins in Palia are linked to a mysterious quest that will reveal secret fortunes from a Phoenix Statue, but only once they've all been found.
Elderwood will provide players with new creatures to hunt and fish, themed collectibles to round up, and magical purple-hued decorations to bring a touch of the mushroom forest to your home. The expansion will also introduce a new equipment type called Relics, which can be unlocked by finding Artifacts hidden around Elderwood. Relics will provide fans and their companions with buffs to help them on their adventures.
"Refer A Friend" Program Returns With An Adorable Reward
Get A Gift For Helping To Grow The Palia Family
Alongside the leap to consoles and the new expansion, Palia is also bringing back its "Refer A Friend" program, detailed on the Palia website. Players who get friends to sign up for the title will be rewarded with an exclusive in-game gift: an Elderwood Fun Guy plushie in five size. The chubby, friendly-looking mushroom plush joins the previous rewards, featuring the adorable squirrel-like Chapaa, giving players a chance to get any missed rewards from the previous iteration of the referral program.
Fun fact: The Fun Guy plushie is interactive, allowing players to bounce off the cute Guy's head like a jumppad!
A year ago, Palia fans weren't sure if their beloved MMO would be able to stay afloat when Singularity 6 struggled to stay afloat. Luckily, veteran MMO company Daybreak bought up the indie title, allowing the team to continue to develop the game to be the best it can be. Elderwood is the second big update of the year for Palia, following up from the Luna New Year celebration in February. Console players can join the welcoming community of the free MMO when it arrives on consoles on May 13.
