Dandadan Season 2 Confirms Release Date With New Poster, Teasing the Hit Anime's Return

Dandadan is making its epic comeback on July 3rd, according to a post by the manga's editor Shihei Lin on X. Though the text of Lin's post is about manga releases, the banner on Fire Ball's manga cover states "Dandadan - TV Anime Season 2, Release Date: 2025, July 3". Anime distributor GKids has also confirmed on their X account that the first three episodes of season two will hit theaters as Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye on June 6th. However, the release date isn't the only reason Dandadan fans have to celebrate.

In addition to the release date, Netflix'sofficial X account for anime has released a new visual. The teaser image posted by Netflix shows Momo and Okarun against a golden backdrop, running away from an all-consuming mouth. Behind the mouth is a malevolent figure shaded in menacing purple. Accompanying the image was this teaser "Can Okarun and Momo solve the mystery surrounding Jiji's family? Find out in DAN DA DAN: Season 2, premiering on Netflix THIS JULY".

Dandadan's Release Date Confirms Just How Massive The Anime Was

Releasing Less Than A Year After The First Season Is Huge

Season one of Dandadan released in October of 2024, to massive critical and commercial acclaim. The series was so popular that Dandadan season one was Netflix's most-viewed anime of 2024, beating out massive hits like Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, and One Piece. Dandadan was also recently nominated for anime of the year at Crunchyroll's Anime of the Year event. Even a recent Avengers comic referenced Dandadan. Still, even with this runaway success, it is surprising that studio Science Saru would be able to produce Dandadan season 2 less than a year after the first season aired.

What this suggests is that Science Saru and the anime's producers had a tremendous amount of faith in their adaptation of Yukinobu Tatsu's manga. Season two releasing less than a year after season one means that the series was probably greenlit for multiple seasons long before it aired. All appearances suggest this gambit is paying off in spades, given Dandadan's unprecedented success.

Season one of Dandadan ended in the middle of adapting the manga's Cursed House arc. The arc focuses primarily around Momo and Okarun helping out Jiji, a childhood friend of Momo's, whose house is haunted by an evil Yokai. The visual released by Netflix teases the arc's ultimate antagonist, the Evil Eye that lends its name to the series' subsequent arc, the Evil Eye arc. To say more would spoil things, but suffice to say that fans have every reason to get excited.
