DC Star Addresses Nova Casting Rumors For Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy Spin-Off
With one of the DC Universe's actors being rumored to be up for the lead role in the Nova TV show, the star finally addresses the Marvel Cinematic Universe reports. As The Multiverse Saga has been introducing numerous new heroes and villains, Marvel Studios is getting closer to finally introducing another beloved comic book player in the MCU timeline. With Disney+ currently developing a live-action Nova series, many fans are waiting to learn who will actually end up playing the titular role.
In a new interview with That Hashtag Show, Xolo Maridueña was asked if there were any truths to the rumors that he is being eyed to play Nova in the MCU for Marvel Studios. Maridueña, who is already attached to James Gunn's DCU franchise as Blue Beetle, shared that while it is only rumors, he would love to be part of both universes, as he said the following about the Nova rumblings:
I mean, that would be cool too. Look, yeah, that'd be great. S--t, I'm ready for whatever work is coming my way, bro. I'll hit up some push-ups for whoever wants me to do some.
What Xolo Maridueña's Marvel Casting Comments Mean
It's crucial to remember that since the Nova TV show has no targeted release date and doesn't appear close to starting production, it might be quite some time until they actually get around to casting the Nova character himself, meaning any rumors should always be taken with an extra grain of salt. It's also still unclear whether or not Nova could be both Richard Rider and Sam Alexander, or if it will only be the former, while the latter is saved for a future season or chapter in the MCU.
In the case of Maridueña being interested in the Nova project, the only thing that would seemingly prevent that from happening is if he ends up having more involvement with Gunn's DCU. Not only is there an animated Blue Beetle TV show in the works, which is supposedly looking to arrive in 2026, Maridueña could also be getting busy with portraying the character again in various live-action projects. It's also not common for an actor to be part of DC and Marvel at the same time, meaning that his DCU commitment may already block him from joining the MCU.
Our Take On Xolo Maridueña's Marvel Casting Comments
If there was a scenario where Maridueña got tapped to star in the MCU's Nova series, it would still be an incredible casting addition to Marvel Studios' ever-growing franchise. The bigger question about Nova, however, is whether or not Marvel Studios is looking to have the show release during or after The Multiverse Saga. Hopefully, more updates about Nova, including who will actually headline the series and when fans may actually see it on Disney+, will be revealed sooner rather than later.
