The Dexter franchise has grown to include four different shows - with a fifth on the way - in 20 years, but only one of them can be called the best.

Dexter: Original Sin is not the only part of the franchise with news coming down the line. An additional series, Dexter: Resurrection, is scheduled for release this summer. The series will star original protagonist actor Michael C. Hall in his reprised role, with a supporting cast that includes John Lithgow, Peter Dinklage, Krysten Ritter, and Jack Alcott. Dexter: Original Sin's renewal means that production is likely under way soon and could potentially have a similar release schedule as season 1. This would result in the two shows airing roughly six months apart.

Our Take On The Dexter: Original Sin Renewal

Season 1 Was Well-Received, But Season 2 Could Really Shine

Season 2 may be Dexter: Original Sin's time to shine. While the series' reviews were positive overall, the spinoff prequel only got a 68% Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes, which is lower than Dexter's overall 71% rating and quite a bit lower than some of the original show's better-reviewed seasons. In his Dexter: Original Sin season finale review, ScreenRant's Greg MacArthur gave the episode 9 out of 10 stars, calling it an "exceptional first season." While the prequel has won over some critics already, season 2 will be a chance for the series to win over even more critics.
