"Did He Tell Her Your Wife Is Alive At Lumon?": Reghabi's Line In Severance Season 2 Supports A Dark Gemma Theory

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Severance season 2's episode 3.After Reghabi hints to Mark that his wife "is alive at Lumon," it becomes hard not to wonder how her statement connects to a dark Severance theory surrounding Gemma's identity and fate. Mark first encounters Reghabi in Severance season 1 when he answers her call on Petey's phone. When Mark later meets her in a secluded location, Reghabi reveals she used to be a surgeon at Lumon and even installed Mark's chip. She also claims she performed the first reintegration on Petey and hopes Mark will agree to go through the same procedure to help her expose Lumon.

Considering her stance against Lumon, Reghabi comes off as one of the heroic characters in Severance. However, a closer look at one detail from her interaction with Mark in Severance season 2's episode 3 suggests there is more to her than meets the eye. While only time will tell how her narrative will tie into the Apple TV+ sci-fi show's overarching narrative, many details in the series make her suspicious.

Reghabi Does NOT Confirm Whether Gemma Is Still Alive In Severance Season 2 Episode 3

She Only Says Gemma "Is Alive At Lumon"

In Severance season 2's episode 3, Reghabi tries to convince Mark to get himself reintegrated. When Mark remains reserved about going through the dangerous procedure, she asks him if his innie said something about his wife being alive at Lumon during the Overtime Contingency incident. She specifically asks, "Did he tell her your wife is alive at Lumon?" While Mark takes this as a confirmation that Gemma is still alive, convincing him to agree to reintegrate, Reghabi seems to intentionally hide the truth from him.

...Mark himself confirms in Severance season 2's episode 2 that he saw Gemma's body after she died, suggesting that Ms. Casey may not be who he thinks she is.

The fact that she emphasizes "at Lumon" suggests she knows a lot more about Gemma than she is letting on. If Gemma, as Mark knew her, was still alive, Reghabi would have simply said, "Did he tell her your wife is alive?" That would have confirmed that Mark's wife, Gemma, was still out there somewhere. However, Mark himself confirms in Severance season 2's episode 2 that he saw Gemma's body after she died, suggesting that Ms. Casey may not be who he thinks she is.

Reghabi's Half-Truth Calls Attention To An Intriguing Gemma Death Theory

Ms. Casey May Not Exist As An Outie

After Ms. Casey was fired in Severance season 1's ending moments, she was seemingly sent to the testing floor through the "Exports Hall" instead of being "relieved" from her innie persona. This prompted many viewers to theorize that she probably did not even exist as an outie. Although Gemma and Ms. Casey looked the same, Ms. Casey was seemingly a part-time test subject, "created artificially" to test Lumon's refinement technology. Unlike the MDR employees, her life as an outie does not exist, and she is sent back to the testing floor when she fails to fulfill Lumon's expectations.

Given how Reghabi implies that Mark's wife is only alive "at Lumon," it seems possible that she knows Ms. Casey only looks like Gemma but is not her. Since she was previously one of the surgeons who performed the severance procedure, she knows that Ms. Casey was not put through the same process as the MDR employees. Instead, she exists solely in the Lumon building as a part-time employee, specifically designed for the testing and experimentation of Lumon's memory-refining technology.

Severance Season 2's Episode 3 Makes Reghabi More Suspicious

Her Half-Truths Suggest She Cannot Be Trusted

When Mark tries to confirm whether Gemma is alive, Reghabi drops another half-truth by saying, "She was, the last time I saw her." This again suggests that Reghabi is carefully mincing her words to not confirm whether Gemma is still out there because she wants to convince Mark to reintegrate. The fact that she even ruthlessly kills Doug in Severance season 1 makes it hard not to wonder how far she is willing to go to expose Lumon. Considering the recent developments in Severance season 2, it seems likely that she, too, has ulterior motives and cannot be trusted.
