Don't Sleep on This WrestleMania 41 Midcard Match That Promises to Steal the Show

This close to WrestleMania 41, most of the matches are set for WWE's "grandest stage of them all". The biggest storyline going into WrestleMania 41 is whether John Cena will defeat Cody Rhodes for the record-breaking 17th WWE Championship. Although this match will have the most eyeballs on it, there is one match that could fly under the radar as one of the best matches on the WrestleMania card.

Earlier this week on Raw on Netflix, a new match was confirmed and added to WrestleMania 41. WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio will go one-on-one against El Grande Americano (who, according to some insiders, may be none other than Chad Gable). After several weeks of back-and-forth exchanges between Mysterio/LWO and Gable/American Made, both faction leaders will battle it out in Las Vegas in honor of true Lucha Libre wrestling. This match may not have the storyline build that other matches have, but it has the potential to steal the show as one of the best matches of the night.

Mysertio vs. El Grande Americano Has the Potential to Steal the Show

Don't Sleep on the Banger That Mysterio and Gable Could Provide

The birth of El Grande Americano has been a fun story we've watched unfold over the past few weeks. Thus far, he has impressed the WWE Universe with his Lucha skills, but at the expense of offending arguably the greatest luchador ever in Mysterio. It was hard to believe having a WrestleMania without Mysterio being on the card. The last time he wasn't included on a WrestleMania, while being a member of the WWE roster, was back in 2014. Not having Mysterio at WrestleMania 41 would have been a real shame, but honestly, the same could be said for Gable.

With WrestleMania 41's match card pretty much set, there are some wrestlers that are left off that deserve to have a match.

El Grande Americano unmasked Dragon Lee during their match, which is extremely disrespectful to the culture. In addition to that, he hid a piece of metal in his mask and took out both Lee and Mysterio to beat LWO on Monday Night Raw this week. That's all there is to this build, but if we're being honest, a match between two incredible wrestlers like Mysterio and Gable doesn't necessarily need a storyline. Just put the two in the ring and watch them work. The fact that it is a legit feud only adds even more value to it.

Midcard matches play an important role in a good WrestleMania. They usually provide high-level in-ring action freed from the constraints of major storylines, and the talents involved usually leave everything out there to prove they deserve a main event spot. In this case, the roles are clear: Mysterio, as the veteran Hall of Famer, has the duty of pushing his opponent (whoever may be hiding under the El Grande Americano mask) to the next level. Expect the "This is awesome!" chants to echo through Allegiant Stadium very early in this bout.

Chad Gable Finally Gets His WrestleMania Spotlight Against One of the Greatest Ever

Chad Gable has been a WWE Superstar for a long time, having debuted for the company in 2014. Over more than a decade, he has proved time and time again to have unbelievable talent, both in terms of in-ring skills and of acting, promos, and everything that goes into the entertainment package. However, he has never been pushed as a main eventer, and famously never won a singles championship. He appeared at WrestleMania five times, but three of these were in a pre-show Battle Royale, and two in tag matches. This year marks Gable's (if you believe the rumors about El Grande Americano's identity) first singles match at the Showcase of Immortals, and it was long overdue.

Considering the magnitude of talent that both Mysterio and Gable possess, this match promises to be one of the underrated bouts that could end up being a match-of-the-night candidate. In particular, with so many multi-man or multi-woman matches on the card, these two will be able to work one-on-one, which, for two incredibly talented wrestlers on a big stage like WrestleMania, just screams "banger."

For Gable, there was perhaps no better opponent than Rey Mysterio to capitalize on this chance. A legend with star power and the skills to make Gable's own abilities shine even more. Don't sleep on this match for Lucha Libra supremacy, because it risks stealing the show at WrestleMania 41.
