Dragon Ball Daima Set Up the Anime's Most Powerful Fusion Ever
Dragon Ball DAIMAis the freshest entry into the Dragon Ball universe. In just 20 episodes, it set itself apart from every other Dragon Ball series through its new locations, top-tier sense of humor, and some of the most unique premises in the franchise. While Dragon Ball DAIMA reused a lot of elements from other Dragon Ball series, like amazing transformations and jaw-dropping Kamehamehas, DAIMA also brought a lot of new ideas to the table.
Dragon Ball DAIMA's place in the main Dragon Ball timeline is a little confusing, but producers and animators who worked on the show said that the series is set right after the Majin Buu Saga of Dragon Ball Z, most likely placing DAIMA before the events of Dragon Ball Super. If DAIMA is in fact set before Super, then there's one specific story element from DAIMA that could make a huge difference if it landed in Super.
Dragon Ball DAIMA Opened The World Of Dragon Ball Up
There Are So Many New Possibilities Because Of DAIMA
Dragon Ball DAIMA opened the world of Dragon Ball up to a litany of new possibilities. The Demon Realm, where most of DAIMA takes place, was an entirely unexplored area in the Dragon Ball multiverse. Dabura was the previous Demon King and spoke of his native land a little in Dragon Ball Z, but that was about it.
Since Dabura's entry (and quick removal) from the Dragon Ball series, nothing else has been mentioned about the Demon Realm. DAIMA changes that, sticking the stars of the show right in the middle of one of the most unfamiliar and dangerous landscapes the franchise has put forward.
The Demon Realm is entirely different from any other environment in Dragon Ball. There are dangerous monsters that neither Goku nor Vegeta can defeat (at least in their kid forms), Giants that can trample the Z Fighters with a single step, and a myriad of interesting bugs that were never really used in the series.
Join Bugs Were An Entirely Unused Element
They Can Fuse Up To Three People At Once
Medi Bugs are a new feature in Dragon Ball DAIMA. The series covers five in total: Revive Bugs that restore stamina (functioning like Senzu Beans), Achichi Bugs to heal burns, Zutsu Bugs that heal headaches, Beaut Bugs that make a person's skin silky smooth, and Join Bugs which fuse three people at once.
While Goku uses the Revive Bugs a few times, that's about it. Bulma does buy the entire store's stock of Beaut Bugs at the end of the series, but the other three bugs are never mentioned again. Out of all the bugs, the Join Bugs are the most interesting by far.

Dragon Ball Daima Didn't Bridge Its Fusion Plot Hole, But Gohan Could in the Near Future
Dragon Ball Daima skipped over its new fusion concept, but Gohan’s research could be the key to exploring their true potential in a possible sequel
There have been plenty of fusions in Dragon Ball, and all of them are exhilarating. Whether Goten and Trunks form Gotenks to take down Majin Buu, or Goku and Vegeta have to join together to face Broly, each transformation brings something massive to the series. Join Bugs look to add yet another person to the fusion, so it's really disappointing that they weren't used in Dragon Ball DAIMA.
There Could Be So Many Great Three-Person Fusions
Goku And Vegeta Plus One More Would Be Insane
The possibility of a three-person fusion creates so many potential fusions. There are the regular fusions everyone knows and loves, like Gotenks, Gogeta, Kibito Kai, Kefla, Fused Zamasu and Vegito, but that's about it. Gohan was supposed to fuse with Goku using the Potara Earrings in Dragon Ball Z, but that fusion never panned out, leading to Vegeta's fusion with his rival.

How Did Dragon Ball's Fusions Come to Life? The History Will Surprise You
Which of Dragon Ball's fusions is best is an argument that has spanned decades, but one character has an unexpected leg up on another.
There are a ton of non-canon Dragon Ball fusions found in the video games, like Gohan's fusion with Trunks, Vegeta's fusion with Trunks, and Goku's fusion with Broly. Even then, none of these fusions feature three characters together.
Fused fighters are always some of the strongest characters in Dragon Ball, and that's just been with two characters fused as one. Broly was strong enough to take on both Goku and Vegeta at the same time, but if Broly were to fuse with Goku and Vegeta, even Beerus might have a tough time with the Saiyan trio.
Hopefully Join Bugs Make Their Return In Dragon Ball Super
Super Could Do The Craziest Thing If It Brought Join Bugs Back
Since Dragon Ball DAIMA is largely considered to have taken place before Dragon Ball Super, Super could do the coolest thing ever by bringing Join Bugs back into the series. Seeing characters like Goku, Vegeta, and either Gohan or Broly fuse together would be amazing. Gohan's new Beast form is on par with Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego, so maybe he's finally ready to fuse with his dad and Vegeta after all.
There are a lot of story elements from Dragon Ball DAIMA that weren't explored heavily, and none are more interesting than the concept of Join Bugs. Seeing three characters fuse together sounds too good to be true, but if Dragon Ball Super can bring it back into the franchise, it will be amazing to see.
