Every Leo Woodall Movie And TV Show, Ranked

The movies and TV shows Leo Woodall has appeared in so far all indicate that the star of One Day and Prime Target is poised for success. Born in London in 1996, Leo Woodall made his on-screen debut in 2019, landing a small role in the British medical soap opera Holby City (which has been an important career foundation for many UK actors). From there, he found himself in minor roles in several TV shows, though he wouldn’t stay under the radar for long.

2024 saw Leo Woodall starring in the Netflix series One Day, and the romantic drama ensured his name would remain on the map. He has since found himself cast in a number of more prominent film roles, including the upcoming Bridger Jones: Mad About the Boy and the long-gestating sci-fi Nomad. While his career is still in its early stages, every Leo Woodall movie and TV show hints that there’s much more to come from the UK actor.

7 Holby City (2019)

Leo Woodall Plays Jake Reader

Leo Woodall in Holby City

Like many British actors, Leo Woodall’s on-screen career started in the long-running medical drama Holby City. He appeared in the 2019 episode “Things My Mother Told Me”, the 31st episode of the show’s 21st season. While it was a one-off role, there’s a fair amount of screen time for Woodall thanks to the show’s format.

His character, Jake Reader, is one of the patients treated by the various Holby City doctors, nurses, and other medical staff during the episode. While this means he takes a backseat to the central cast and the overarching narratives of their characters, it was still a solid early outing from Leo Woodall, and gave a glimpse of the skills he’d come to rely on as his career took off in the 2020s.

Citadel is a 2023 action-thriller series developed by the Russo Brothers. The narrative follows agents Mason Kane and Nadia Sinh, played by Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who work for a global spy agency intent on maintaining world stability. They must confront a new threat from a shadowy organization bent on global chaos. Stanley Tucci and Lesley Manville co-star in this high-stakes, globe-trotting espionage drama.

2023’s Citadel is one of several celebrated spy action shows created for Amazon Prime Video. As is the case with many original Prime Video thrillers, the plot of Citadel is filled with many twists and turns. It focuses on a former secret agent, Kane (Richard Madden) who, years after his career in espionage, is living a quiet life with his memories of his former identity erased.

As is the case with many TV shows in Leo Woodall’s career so far, his role in Citadel is relatively minor. He appears in two episodes of the show as Duke, a former colleague of Nikki Amuka-Bird’s Grace and a key member of the team that took part in a mission to disable a Russian submarine. While his appearance is brief and limited to flashback sequences, Citadel is still worthwhile viewing for Leo Woodall fans.

A young dhampir guardian-in-training and her best friend, a Moroi vampire princess, attend a high-stakes academy for vampires. As they contend with typical teenage challenges and the constant threat of Strigoi attacks, they unravel mysteries about their school and their fates.

The fantasy horror series was created as a Peacock original, airing for 10 episodes in 2022 before being canceled by the streaming service. However, it was received relatively well by critics, and still sits with a 77% Tomatometer (critical rating) score on Rotten Tomatoes. Like many Leo Woodall TV show appearances before his breakout in 2024’s One Day, his appearance was relatively brief, and he starred in 2 episodes of the show as Adrian Ivashkov.

While he only featured in two episodes, Leo Woodall managed to make Adrian Ivashkov one of the more memorable supporting characters in Vampire Academy. Adrian was one of the few vampiric characters who was never a student at the titular academy, and his struggles with using alcohol to numb his sensitivity to spirits allowed Woodall to showcase his talent for more dramatic, emotive roles.

Created for Apple TV+, Cherry is a film adaptation of the drama novel that sees Tom Holland play the role of "Cherry," a young man who meets the love of his life but continues to make destructive life decisions, jeopardizing his happiness and relationship. After returning from the Iraq war, Cherry's adjustment to citizen life is marked with PTSD and addiction as he continues to enter a life of complete self-destruction.

Cherry is the 2021 Apple TV+ original from directors Anthony and Joe Russo, and was noteworthy upon its release for being one of the first projects Tom Holland took on after first appearing as the MCU’s Spider-Man. Leo Woodall is also featured in the cast of the crime drama, though in an incredibly minor role as Rodgers.

Like many of the best Leo Woodall movies and TV shows, Cherry is recommended viewing based on the strength of the film overall rather than the prominence of Woodall’s appearance. The actor is still at the early stages of his career and, as such, still being cast in his first central roles. However, being cast alongside the likes of Tom Holland was an early indicator that Woodall would soon find his way to being featured in highly acclaimed projects like 2022’s The White Lotus and 2024’s One Day.

Prime Target follows Edward Brooks, a brilliant mathematician, in his pursuit of a prime number breakthrough that could blow open the door to international cybersecurity. Teamed with NSA agent Taylah Sanders, he confronts a hidden conspiracy threatening his discovery and life.

2025’s Prime Target marks Leo Woodall’s second central role in a TV show. Like many of his projects, Prime Target was an original show for a streaming platform, in this case Apple TV+. The One Day star takes on the role of Edward Brooks, a mathematical genius who finds himself the target of sabotage and subterfuge after he discovers a pattern in prime numbers that allows him to access any computer system on the globe.

The response to Prime Target from critics has been mixed. However, this isn’t due to Woodall’s performance, and the perceived flaws in the show are down to the pacing of the narrative. Leo Woodall delivers a solid appearance as Edward Brooks by all accounts, and it will likely be considered one of his best movies or TV shows for some time.

Despite their lives drifting apart after high school, Dex and Emma reunite one day every year as their lives run parallel. Love, heartbreak, and the experience of growing apart together lie at the center of this decade-spanning love story.

Creator(s)
Nicole Taylor, David Nicholls

2024’s One Day marks the most significant entry among Leo Woodall’s movies and TV shows so far, and saw him land his first central role as Dexter Mayhew, one of two leads in the Netflix romantic drama. Based on the novel One Day by David Nicholls, the show features Woodall starring alongside Ambika Mod as Emma Morley. The series chronicles the pair’s relationship across 14 years, from their first chance encounter through to the tragic circumstances that force them to part ways.

Many would consider One Day to be Leo Woodall’s best TV show so far, and the competition is certainly close. One Day currently sits with a 92% critical score and 85% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, highlighting just how positively it was received. If it weren’t for the fact that the absolute best TV show Woodall has appeared in is one of the most critically acclaimed of the last decade, it’s a near-certainty that One Day would be considered his strongest.

The White Lotus is a television series that explores the interactions of guests and staff at an upscale tropical resort. Premiering in 2021, the narrative unfolds over a week, revealing underlying complexities and tensions among the resort's seemingly ideal travelers and employees.

Creator(s)
Mike White

Season 2 of The White Lotus is the best Leo Woodall movie or TV show of his career so far, and features Leo Woodall as part of an ensemble cast that also includes the likes of Jennifer Coolidge, F. Murray Abraham, Aubrey Plaza, and Adam DiMarco, among others. Released on HBO in 2022, season 2 of the dark anthology dramedy The White Lotus focused on holidaymakers in a luxurious resort in Sicily, changing locations from season 1 but keeping many of the same themes.

In The White Lotus Leo Woodall plays Jack, the nefarious nephew of Tom Hollander’s Quentin. While his role in The White Lotus isn’t as prominent as 2024’s One Day or 2025’s Prime Target, it is the more well-rounded show overall. Season 2 of The White Lotus received numerous accolades, including a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. It’s likely that as his career progresses The White Lotus will be overtaken as the best Leo Woodall movie or TV show, but so far it stands as his most solid on-screen appearance to date.
