Every Millie Bobby Brown Movie And TV Show, Ranked

The best Millie Bobby Brown movies and TV shows feature a strong mix of genre favorites. What is most impressive about Brown’s career is that she hasn’t appeared in many TV shows or movies in her young career, but most of the young star’s appearances have been massive releases. Born in Spain, she made her debut in the Once Upon a Time spinoff Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, where she played young Alice. She then had several small roles in episodes of popular TV shows before finally getting her big break.

That came in 2016 when she picked up the role of Eleven in Stranger Things. Brown was only 12 years old when she started playing Eleven, but she became one of the top names on the Netflix fantasy series, and that role made her a star. She moved on to another giant franchise on the big screen when she played Madison Russell in the MonsterVerse Godzilla films. She also found more success in the Enola Holmes franchise, playing Sherlock Holmes’ little sister.

In her very first on-screen role, Millie Bobby Brown showed that she was already willing to take on iconic parts. Once Upon a Time in Wonderland is the spinoff series of ABC's hit fantasy show Once Upon a Time. It follows Alice (Sophie Lowe), who returns from Wonderland, sharing stories of her adventures. As she deals with the real world not believing her, she looks back on her adventures and the colorful characters she met.

Brown appears in two episodes of the series as young Alice. It is not a big part in the overall series, but Brown has the chance to show herself as the precocious and spirited young hero. She even gets a chance to go a little darker with the role in a hallucination older Alice has of her younger self. The series itself suffers from lackluster CGI that is quite subpar for a TV production of this era, but is a solid addition to the Once Upon a Time story.

Modern Family is a comedy series that follows the unconventional Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker family as they redefine what makes a family in their modern age. Millie Bobby Brown had a small cameo role in Modern Family, proving her comedy chops at a very young age. This was in 2015 and the sixth season episode, “Closet.” In the episode, she plays a young girl named Lizzie, who is riding her bike. In this specific episode, Phil and Luke go to Jay to spend some time with him. Gloria is sunbathing in the backyard when a drone flies over the house and starts recording her.

It was one line but a fun moment and a nice look at an early Millie Bobby Brown television appearance.

Things get worse when Phil falls into the pool and accidentally exposes himself, and the drone gets that and takes off. Everyone takes off after the drone on bikes, leaving Manny behind. Manny wants to help, and he finds Lizzie riding her bike. He asks to borrow it and says he will bring it back. Lizzie replies, “No, that’s what you said about my Mom’s humidifier.” It was one line but a fun moment and a nice look at an early Millie Bobby Brown television appearance.

In Grey’s Anatomy’s 11th season, Millie Bobby Bown had a small role that proved that she was a child star worth watching out for. The episode was titled “I Feel the Earth Move,” and she plays a young girl named Ruby. Her mother is in grave danger, and young Ruby works with the doctors to help save her mom’s life. In the episode, Ruby’s mother falls from a chair and suffers a head injury. When Ruby tries to call 911, she can’t get through because of a recent earthquake, and the lines are full.

Ruby calls Grey Sloan directly and begs someone to help her. This leads to Owen and Amelia teaching Ruby how to check her mom’s breathing and how to do chest compressions. However, her phone battery dies, and she has to remember everything they told her to keep her mom alive until emergency services arrive. Brown was 11 when she filmed this episode, and while most of her acting was done over a phone conversation, she showed why she would one day become a major television star.

In 2014, at the age of 10, Millie Bobby Brown had a role in the hit procedural series NCIS. This was the show’s 12th season, and she played a mysterious young girl named Rachel Barnes. The episode, “Parental Guidance Suggested,” sees Rachel killing her mother so her father will stop traveling for work and spend more time with her. However, she hides her guilt from Gibbs and the rest of his team, and when they find out what happened, the episode has a tragic, sad ending.

This was an early role, but Brown delivered a great performance as the troubled young girl, someone who did something evil and wrong but felt she had to do it to get her father’s love. She showed complex emotions in an emotionally charged role that proved she could deliver tough scenes like these, leading to her signing on to an even more complex character on Stranger Things two years later.

Intruders follows members of a secret society who pursue immortality by inhabiting the bodies of others. The film delves into their relentless quest to transcend mortality, raising questions about identity and the ethics of their pursuits. Released in 2014, it presents a gripping exploration of existential themes.

While it is nowhere near as popular as Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown’s first actual regular television role came in the 2014 thriller series Intruders. This was only her second acting role after she appeared in two episodes of the Once Upon a Time spinoff series Once Upon a Time in Wonderland as a Young Alice for two episodes. In Intruders, Brown was part of the main cast of the series at the age of nine.

Brown played Madison O’Donnell in Intruders, a young girl who suffered strange nightmares and terrible headaches after meeting a stranger on a beach. She becomes unhinged and eventually runs away from home, going on a mission from Oregon to Seattle for reasons she doesn’t understand. The overall plot involves a secret society called Qui Reverti, whose members can seek refuge in the bodies of others after they die, and Madison is one of the vessels. This is easily an early look at what Eleven would look like on Stranger Things.

Millie Bobby Brown's partnership with Netflix has been a successful one, eventually leading to her starring in one of the platform's biggest movies to date. The Electric State is set in an alternate version of the 1990s where humans have exiled robots to a new land. Brown plays Michelle, an orphaned teenager who must travel to the land of the robots in order to find her brother. She is joined on her journey by a roguish smuggler, Keats (Chris Pratt).

The film was criticized for feeling like a hodgepodge of other popular movies without having anything original or exciting of its own to add.

The movie is the anticipated reunion of MCU directors Joe and Anthony Russo and MCU screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. However, while this team has delivered some of the best MCU movies to date, this is a disappointing big-budget collaboration between them. The film was criticized for feeling like a hodgepodge of other popular movies without having anything original or exciting of its own to add. While Pratt's character sees him playing his typical wise-cracking hero, Brown was praised as one of the highlights of the movie.

Acting as a sequel to Enola Holmes (2020), Enola Holmes 2 sees the titular detective and younger sister of Sherlock Holmes pulled into another mystery when a young factory worker asks Enola to help solve her sister's disappearance. Unlike its predecessor, Enola Holmes 2 is not based on the novel series by Nancy Springer. The story instead takes inspiration from the 1888 matchgirls' strike in London. Millie Bobbie Brown reprises her role as Enola, with Henry Cavill and Helena Bonham Carter also reprising their roles as Sherlock and Eudoria Holmes.

Distributor(s)
Netflix

Millie Bobby Brown returned for her second outing in the Enola Holmes franchise with Enola Holmes 2. The movie was based on the book series by Nancy Springer, but unlike the first entry, this one is an original story that does not follow one of Springer’s books. Instead, it takes inspiration from a real-life event called the 1888 matchgirls’ strike. This was an event where the women and teen girls who worked at a match factory in London went on strike, demanding better working conditions.

The movie sees Enola running her own detective agency after the events of the first entry but struggles to find clients as good as those her brother, Sherlock Holmes, often works for. The one case she gets that leads this film comes when a woman hires her to find her sister, who works for the match factory. This was not quite as good as the original movie because the mystery didn’t involve Enola as much but Brown’s performance helped elevate the film and proved that this was a franchise worth continuing.

In Godzilla: King of the Monsters, crypto-zoological agency Monarch faces off against a battery of god-sized monsters known as the Titians. Among these creatures is the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.

Millie Bobby Brown joined the Godzilla franchise in the MonsterVerse, as the character of Madison Russell. After Godzilla rebooted in 2014 with Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Bryan Cranston in the lead roles, the franchise switched things up in 2019 by making Brown’s Madison the main human character. She was the daughter of a paleobiologist who was working with an eco-terrorist organization.

This was her first appearance in the franchise, and when she returned a few years later, she helped lead the human cast...

She ends up helping her father, Dr. Mark Russell, stop her mom from setting the monsters loose on the world in an effort to wipe out the human race and return it to the monsters. This was her first appearance in the franchise, and when she returned a few years later, she helped lead the human cast in what has been the best of the franchise so far when Godzilla faced Kong. Brown was a huge part of its success.

A dutiful damsel agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to find the royal family has recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. Thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, she must rely on her wits and will to survive

Main Genre
Fantasy

Damsel was a Netflix original fantasy movie that Millie Bobby Brown worked on while starring in Stranger Things and after completing her two Enola Holmes movies. The film is a dark fantasy with Brown starring as Elodie, the daughter of Lord Bayford from an unnamed northern land, who receives a proposal offer from Queen Isabelle of Aurea to marry her son, Prince Henry. She accepts, knowing that marrying the prince would allow a bride price that could help her impoverished kingdom.

However, what she never expected was that it was all a trap, and the Queen sacrificed her to a Dragon to ensure her kingdom’s safety and prosperity. At the same time, what they never expected was that the pure Elodie would communicate with the Dragon and seek her own revenge. It ended up as the most-watched Netflix movie at the start of 2024, and while critical response was barely above average, critics praised Brown’s work as an action hero.

The first major crossover event in Warner Bros. monster verse arrives as Godzilla vs. Kong. This blockbuster action film sees the legendary King Kong and Godzilla go head to head in a battle of titanic proportions. Set after the events of Godzilla: King of the Monsters and decades after Kong: Skull Island, the movie sees members of the underground agency known as Monarch dealing with the fallout of a rampaging Godzilla. Monarch relocates Kong to an area that may give them the weapon they need to subdue Godzilla; however, there are greater foes than the King of the Monsters to fear.

Distributor(s)
Warner Bros. Pictures

Millie Bobby Brown returned for the second time in the third Godzilla movie and fourth MonsterVerse movie, Godzilla vs. Kong. As the title suggests, the selling point here is that Kong and Godzilla fight and tear up cities while the humans fight to figure out what is causing the battle and try to stop it. Jia (Kaylee Hottle) is back as Jia, the young deaf orphan who developed a relationship with Kong, while Brown is back as the one person who seems to be able to reach out to Godzilla.

This movie gives Brown a chance to really play more into her role since she is no longer a young girl who didn’t know her mother was evil and is instead someone who wants to desperately prove that Godzilla is not the bad guy here, despite her dad still not wanting to get involved. Just like the second film, this was all about monsters fighting, and the humans were secondary, but Brown was even better this time around as she proved to be a star in the making.
