Fallen Women

Denver author Sandra Dallas brings her trademark flair for historical fiction and scandal to her 13th novel, Fallen Women. Set in the 1880s—an age when the Mile High City was as much a center of mining-related opulence as it was a hub for seedy red-light district exploits—the plot follows a society maven from New York City who moves to Denver to investigate the grisly unsolved murder of her sister. (The fallen-from-grace socialite was stabbed in her room at a brothel.) Dallas transitions easily from the riffraff of Larimer Street to the mansions of Grant Street with rich characters, a compassionate voice, and enough plot twists to keep readers up way past their bedtimes to solve the mystery.
