Finally! One of My Hero Academia's Best Movies Is About to Join Netflix

My Hero Academia: You're Next is one of the most exciting anime movies in recent memory, and fans are closer than ever to having the franchise's latest available at home. According to a post on the Netflix Anime X account, My Hero Academia: You're Next will premiere on Netflix in the US, Canada, and other regions on April 20th.

Released on August 2nd in Japan and October 11 in the United States, My Hero Academia is the latest film in the smash-hit franchise. The film sees Deku and Class 1-A facing off against All-Might's evil doppelganger, Dark Might. My Hero Academia: You're Next received critical acclaim, with some even heralding it as the franchise's best cinematic outing yet.

My Hero Academia You're Next Landing On Netflix Is A Big Deal

The Move Speaks To A Broader Strategy On Netflix's Part

The main My Hero Academia series is available on a wide variety of streaming platforms, including Hulu, Crunchyroll, and Netflix. Unfortunately, the streaming rights to My Hero Academia's movies is more complex. The first movie, My Hero Academia: Two Heroes is currently available on Netflix, Hulu, and Crunchyroll, while the next movie, Heroes Rising, is only available on Netflix and Crunchyroll. To make matters even more complex, World Heroes Mission, the third movie, is only streaming on Starz. As if that wasn't enough, the series' recent spinoff anime, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, is only streaming on Crunchyroll.

Unfortunately, these sort of messy rights issues are common with anime. The Naruto movies, for instance, are also scattered across a wide variety of services. My Hero Academia's streaming situation is only better by virtue of there being far less of the franchise to divide up. While it's unclear is Netflix has the sole right to stream You're Next, it certainly appears that way at the time, which speaks to Netflix's broader efforts to appeal to anime fans.

Why Fans Should Be Excited About You're Releasing On Streaming

The Latest And Potentially Last My Hero Academia Movie Easily Ecclipses Its Predecessors

Regardless of its streaming home, My Hero Academia: You're Next is easily a franchise highlight. You're Next takes place right before the series' final war and sees the cast dealing with a twisted reflection of All Might. Dark Might provides a compelling mystery and his connection to All Might lets him be a far more personal villain for Deku and the rest of Class 1-A.

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes has debuted its equivalent of All Might, the unpowered hero known as Knuckleduster, who ranks among the franchise's best.

With My Hero Academia's movies technically being canon and the material itself being strong, there are great reasons to watch the franchise's latest cinematic outing. Look forward to My Hero Academia: You're Next when it releases on Netflix on April 20th!
