A Creative Powerhouse Behind the Latest Gundam Film
A High-Stakes Gundam Story
The film’s success is largely credited to its powerhouse creative team. Co-written by Neon Genesis Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno and directed by FLCL’s Kazuya Tsurumaki, it is a collaboration between Studio Khara and Sunrise, Gundam’s home since 1979. Fans have praised GQuuuuuuX for injecting fresh energy into the franchise while staying true to its core themes of war, identity, and survival.
Set in an alternate Gundam timeline, the story follows Amate Yuzuriha, a high schooler in a space colony. Her quiet life changes when she meets Nyaan, a war refugee involved in underground mobile suit dueling. Drawn into the dangerous sport of Clan Battle, Amate takes on the alias "Machu" and pilots the formidable GQuuuuuuX. As tensions rise, a mysterious Gundam appears, piloted by Shuji and pursued by authorities—an encounter that will change everything.
