Hailee Steinfeld Addresses Kate Bishop's MCU Future Amid Avengers: Doomsday Casting Speculation

Hailee Steinfeld opens up about the Marvel Cinematic Universe future of Kate Bishop, following recent Avengers: Doomsday speculation. Recently, a clip of Steinfeld at a Sinners premiere went viral, and in the video she was seen nodding after someone asked her if she was going to be back for the next Avengers movie. Many fans took it as an accidental confirmation about Steinfeld being in the Avengers: Doomsday cast, but the actress hasn't commented on it since, either clarifying or denying the confirmation if she's returning to the MCU.

In a new interview with Backstage, the Hawkeye star was asked about her plans to return to the MCU, as Avengers: Doomsday is now in production. Steinfeld, without mentioning Avengers: Doomsday, made it clear that fans have not seen the last of the heroine, as she shared the following:

I’m excited about the idea of continuing to grow with a character like Kate, especially in something as huge as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. You get to go back to your family; you get to go back to that little home that then becomes part of this grander picture. I love that character, and I totally understand why she is so loved.

What Hailee Steinfeld's MCU Update Means For Kate Bishop

While Steinfeld wouldn't give it away if she is part of Avengers: Doomsday, it shouldn't come as a surprise if Kate is indeed set to return for the 2026 Avengers movie. Even though Marvel Studios announced multiple cast members during their big surprise live stream, there will be more announcements for Avengers: Doomsday, according to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. Given the large scope of Avengers: Doomsday, it wouldn't come as a shock if Steinfeld is one of the cast members that will be announced next.

Based on Steinfeld's response, she clearly knows more than she is letting on about what is next for Kate in the MCU. At this point, since Avengers: Doomsday is in production, whoever they intend to bring back for the Phase 6 installment is likely signed on by now, which would include someone like Steinfeld, since filming is set to start incredibly soon, if it hasn't already. Therefore, it's less about if she is back and more so when Marvel Studios will formally announce that Kate, and other MCU players, are joining the Avengers: Doomsday cast.

As cryptic as Steinfeld's update was about Kate's immediate future with the MCU, it would be really shocking if she was actually not in Avengers: Doomsday at all. With the emerging threat of Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, the MCU will need to bring together as many heroes as possible. Hopefully, Steinfeld's potential involvement in Avengers: Doomsday will be revealed sooner rather than later.
