Highly Anticipated Game Where You "Date Everything!" Finally Has A Release Date
The ambitious romance game Date Everything!has an official release date, and it's coming soon. The dating sim, developed by Team17, is based on a ridiculous but fun premise: You have a pair of magical glasses that lets you see the human form of every item around your house. The result is 100 characters to meet and get to know and, of course, potentially form a relationship with.
Developer Team17 has released a new video showing a bit more of how the game will actually play out and getting to meet some more of the hilarious characters and personalities waiting for players to discover them. The new trailer has also finally revealed the new release date of the dating sim: Date Everything! will release on June 17 on the PS5, Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and on PC via Steam. A physical edition is in the works as well, coming sometime in 2025 (no specific date has been announced yet for the physical version).
Date Everything! Has A Quirky Premise And Stellar Cast
Who Wouldn't Want To Date Their Laundry Basket?
The romance game is more than a pretty face, offering a huge amount of variety for players to choose from. Each of the 100 romanceable characters has a fully fleshed-out story and personality, as well as three different endings per character. This means there are at least 300 different endings, each of which looks like it will be a delight to discover. Players will be able to choose who they speak with every night for a chance to develop their relationship from just friends to love... or hatred.
Fun fact: While there are plenty of puns in the characters' names, like Fantina the fan, it seems that Team17 hid even more jokes with the voice talent casting. For instance, Daisuke Tsuji voices a character named Daisuke, while Cherami Leigh voices Chairemi (who is, of course, a chair).
On top of that, the hilarious and pun-filled dialogue will be delivered by a full cast of voice actors. Some beloved names make an appearance, including gaming industry darling Felicia Day as the "Dateviator" glasses that allow all this to happen, Skylar Specs. Other characters are voiced by stellar voice actors like Troy Baker, Johnny Yong Bosch, and many others.
Could Dating Sims Become A More Mainstream Genre?
Taking A Different Spin On The Genre Makes Some Games Stand Out
Romance games and dating sims are certainly not for everyone and tend to have a reputation for being crass or vulgar. While many dating games do lean heavily into the spicier side of romance, the genre also has plenty of excellent options for those who just want to have some fun with it. Several dating sims have broken through to a fanbase who would normally not be interested in romance titles, thanks to their unique takes on the genre.
Some dating sims turn the genre into a horror game (Doki Doki Literature Club), a pigeon-dating sim (Hatoful Boyfriend), or a wholesome meet-cute with single fathers (Dream Daddy). It looks like Date Everything! is set to follow in these games' footsteps and provide a fun spin on the genre that's sure to draw in a more mainstream audience than the genre usually gets.
