Honkai: Star Rail 3.7 Leaks Have Shown Off Cyrene's Element, & It's Fueling A Popular Theory About Her True Identity

A new leak about Cyrene’s element in Honkai: Star Rail 3.7 has been shared, and it may be helping fuel a popular fan theory about the character’s true identity in the larger story arc. Even though the turn-based RPG by HoYoverse is still on its way into Version 3.1, some rumors about future patches are already emerging. Some are powered by the beta tests for Version 3.2, for example, which have revealed details about Castorice’s abilities in Honkai: Star Rail. Most of the leaks are referent to the next patch, but some are looking further into the future.

Some of the leaks and rumors are highlighting aspects of the various Chrysos Heirs who have yet to be presented in the game, including Hysilens and Anaxa, while others talk about a new form for Dan Heng. There are several leaks about the upcoming year of content, most of which are connected to Amphoreus since HoYoverse has already confirmed that the destination’s story arc should last from Version 3.0 through Version 3.7. Now, there’s been a new leak about Cyrene, which may connect to another leak about Phainon in Honkai: Star Rail and give players more insight into her identity.

Cyrene May Be An Ice Remembrance Character In Honkai: Star Rail 3.7

The Leak Says She Will Be A 5-Star Unit

According to new information provided by the leaker known as Uncle Jtt5CPW, which was shared in a post flagged as “Questionable” on Reddit, Cyrene will be the only 5-star character in Version 3.7 and she will deal Ice DMG while following the Path of the Remembrance. Little else is actually known about Cyrene other than the fact that she may have a special connection to the Trailblazer once she is formally introduced as an NPC in the Amphoreus storyline in Honkai: Star Rail and that she has a past involving Phainon, another important Chyrsos Heir that players have already met.

During a flashback cutscene in Version 3.0, Cyrene is seen speaking to Phainon, when both of them were younger. During the conversation, Cyrene prophesies Phainon as the savior of Amphoreus, calling him the Deliverer of the fate of The Eternal Land. This specific interaction, combined with the new leak about her possible element and Path in Version 3.7 has helped further fuel a long-lasting fan theory that Cyrene is the true identity of March 7th in Honkai: Star Rail – and as ludicrous as it may seem from an initial standpoint, it could actually make a lot of sense.

Fan Theory Says Cyrene Is March 7th In Honkai: Star Rail

There Seems To Be Connections Between Both Characters

There are a few points of evidence that may help sustain this theory. The first is that both characters have physical similarities, such as their pink hair, blue eyes, and body type. Beyond that, however, the way the game presents some events has led to speculation. After the cutscene with Phainon and Cyrene, the game immediately cuts to a moment when Himeko encounters March 7th encased in ice – seemingly the same ice that she was encased in when she was found by the Astral Express crew in Honkai: Star Rail’s backstory.

The transition from one cutscene to the other could be coincidental, but there are more reasons to believe that Cyrene could be March 7th. This is because March 7th started to feel strange as soon as she approached Amphoreus. HoYoverse may have already provided a partial answer as to why this is happening. During the Version 3.0 livestream, the game’s developers mentioned that March 7th has a special connection to the Remembrance, one of Amphoreus’ three main Paths and that upon arrival she makes a discovery. This discovery may be that she was once from Amphoreus in Honkai: Star Rail.

The ailment that March 7th is feeling may be related to being touched by ghosts of her past and being so close to the Path that has defined her as a character before she lost her memories within the eternal ice she was encased in. But why would March 7th necessarily be Cyrene? The aforementioned leaks involving Phainon mention that both he and Cyrene are Emanators, but what is concerning is that the leaks say that Phainon is an Emanator of Destruction. This would mean he is a servant of Nanook and, essentially, a villain in Honkai: Star Rail.

As a rumored Emanator of Destruction, Phainon would likely be aware that he is serving Nanook and that the Aeon’s goal is to bring entropy to Amphoreus.

Another important aspect of the flashback cutscene is that it ends with Cyrene being stabbed through the chest with a sword, bleeding golden ichor. There is reason to believe that Phainon is the one responsible for Cyrene’s attempted murder; only he is known for using a sword on Amphoreus, and he can be seen bathing in golden ichor in teaser trailers. If he is truly a villain, Phainon may have betrayed Cyrene and cast her away into space, where she encased herself in eternal ice and drifted away, only to be found by the Astral Express in Honkai: Star Rail.

Lastly, it is worth noting that Cyrene’s name is based on the Greek name Kyrene, which means “lord,” “ruler,” and “sovereign queen,” according to Honkai: Star Rail Fandom. This may be indicative of her status as the true savior and ruler of Amphoreus and not Phainon. Since an early age, Cyrene may have been misinterpreting the prophecy about Phainon’s role as the Deliverer when she herself could be the hero of The Eternal Land – as a means to maintain his relevance, Phainon could have, possibly, betrayed Cyrene in Honkai: Star Rail.

Cyrene’s Rumored Element & Path Helps Sustain The Honkai: Star Rail Theory

The Theory, However, May Prove To Be Incorrect

Now, with the rumors about Cyrene’s element and Path, the theory about her true identity gains even more traction. The Ice that she uses may be the same eternal ice that March 7th is known for wielding in combat and where she may currently be encasing herself in. Furthermore, the character’s alleged connection to the Remembrance, possibly as an Emanator of Remembrance, may be reflective of March 7th’s own connection to the Remembrance. The theories are nothing more than speculation, but a lot of key points seem to be adding up in Honkai: Star Rail.

Theories like these should always be considered with extreme caution, as the information from leaks may be incorrect and the speculation may not lead up to what the developers have planned out for the story. Nonetheless, the theory doesn’t lack arguments, and, as unexpected as such events may seem, it doesn’t feel like they are entirely out of the realm of possibility, especially when connecting all the separate dots from leaks and in-game information, but only time will tell if March 7th is truly Cyrene in Honkai: Star Rail.
