How Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 3 Directly Ties Into 2022's Dominion Movie
The following contains spoilers for Jurassic World: Chaos Theory season 3, now streaming on NetflixJurassic World: Chaos Theory has some direct connections and shared scenes with 2022's Jurassic World: Dominion. Debuting in 2020 with Camp Cretaceous before taking a time-jump to Chaos Theory, the animated shows set within the universe of Jurassic World have done a great job of fleshing out the survivors of the dinosaur attacks, the conspiracies seeking to use the creatures for profit, and the ways the world has changed in light of their spread across the globe. While the Nublar Six have referenced the protagonists of the films and even interacted with some supporting characters, there's been little direct crossover.
That changes in Chaos Theory season 3, which pushes the cast directly into the events depicted in Jurassic World: Dominion. The climactic arc of season 3 takes much of the cast directly into one of the major set-pieces of that film from a dangerous new perspective. Chaos Theory even builds on the events as depicted in the film, revealing the full fate of Soyona Santos after she was seemingly arrested in Dominion. Here is how Jurassic World: Chaos Theory season 3 connects directly to the live-action films, and how it sets up an even more important crossover for season 4.
Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 3 & Dominion Both Take Place In Malta
Chaos Theory's Latter Half Takes Place During The Events Of Dominion
Jurassic World: Chaos Theory closes out season 3 with an action-packed visit to Malta, which leads to a direct crossover moment between the animated show and 2022's Jurassic World: Dominion. Chaos Theory has always been happening alongside the margins of the Jurassic World films. Camp Cretaceous was set off by the chaos unfolding in Jurassic World, while later seasons of that show dealt with the Nublar Six struggling to survive the fallout of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The timelines in the show have overlapped in Chaos Theory, which takes place largely in the same time window as Jurassic World:Dominion.
Claire and Owen seemingly made their way through the market, at the same time Brooklynn and Santos did in Chaos Theory.
When both plots converge on the same location, there's some specific crossover. This leads to the events that transpire in Malta in Chaos Theory's final stretch of episodes. The dinosaur black market in Malta is a major location in Brookylnn's storyline for season 3, serving as the backdrop for her apprenticeship under Santos. This is the same Amber Clave Night Market that appeared in Jurassic World: Dominion as the target of French Intelligence's investigation into the illegal dinosaur markets. Claire and Owen seemingly made their way through the market, at the same time Brooklynn and Santos did in Chaos Theory.
Chaos Theory's Season 3 Finale Overlaps With Jurassic World: Dominion's Timeline
Malta Gives Chaos Theory And Dominion A Crossover Moment With Barry
Chaos Theory delves further into the events surrounding the arrest of Santos in Jurassic World: Dominion. In that film, Santos tried to escape custody. This scene is repeated in Chaos Theory, but now from Brooklynn's perspective inside one of the raptpr trucks. As in the film, Barry corners Santos after she unleashes her raptors to cause chaos across Malta. In Jurassic World: Dominion, the focus shifted away from Santos to Owen trying to outrun the dinosaurs Santos has set off after him. However, Chaos Theory reveals that Barry's arrest of Santos was more complicated than it appeared in the film.
Chaos Theory reveals that Santos is able to briefly escape Barry's grasp thanks to the chaos she unleashes. She was even able to avoid the authorities long enough to make her way towards a potential extraction drone-helicopter sent by Dodgson. However, her efforts were complicated by both Brooklynn and the Handler. While the latter was dispatched in short order by Santos' other trained dinosaurs, Brooklynn is able to stall Santos long enough for Barry and other law enforcement to arrive. This led to Santos' formally being arrested, the collapse of the black market, and the resolution of Brooklynn's undercover arc.
Chaos Theory Fills In The Blanks Of Jurassic World Dominion's Dinosaur Black Market
The Dinosaur Black Market Fleshes Out The Larger World In Exciting Ways
One of the more intriguing ideas set up by the Jurassic World films is the idea of a global criminal ring that is willing to sell dinosaurs to the highest bidder. Jurassic World: Dominion even showcased the ways dinosaurs were impacting the seedier aspects of modern society, hinting at the kind of schemers and killers who had been operating underneath their radar. This is one of the best aspects of Chaos Theory season 3, which integrates Brooklynn into this world. Through Brooklynn, audiences get a chance to see more of the marketplace and the kind of characters who populate it.
The fact that Owen and Claire were able to sneak through this supposedly secret black market makes more sense now, given that it feels less like a secretive organization and more like an outlet for low-level crooks and their cronies. Characters like Santos and Dodgson might make use of the marketplace or use it as a temporary storage for their assets, but it feels like only a part of their operation. It's a clever way to ground the setting in the real world by making it feel more grounded while also illustrating the wide-reaching threat posed by people like Santos.
How Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 4 Could Tie Directly To Dominion's Ending (& Beyond)
Season 4 Could Head Further Into Dominion's Climax
Chaos Theory's crossing over so directly with the Jurassic World films feels like a fulfillment of the promise of the original show. While they've been faced with many of the same challenges and threats, the heroes of the show and the film have had little direct interaction. Characters like Barry create a direct thread between them, further pushing Chaos Theory into the overt Jurassic franchise. The ending sets up a possible Jurassic World: Chaos Theory season 4 to push that connection even further with the reveal that Kenji and Sammy have also followed a captured Bumpy to the Biosyn Sanctuary.

The Broker In Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Fully Explained
The Broker in Jurassic World: Chaos Theory has deeper connections to the franchise that sets up major elements for future seasons and films.
The Biosyn Sanctuary is the setting for the climax of Jurassic World: Dominion, suggesting they are about to throw themselves into that conflict. They'll likely soon be joined by the rest of the Nublar Six, who end the season taking Santos' helicopter to further investigate Biosyn after helping bring her down. This means that the Nublar Six will be retroactively present for the conclusion of Jurassic World: Dominion. This means there could be more crossovers with the films in the next season, and it could push the characters from Jurassic World: Chaos Theory more overtly into the aftermath of Dominion.
