I Love Arisu And Usagi, But This Is The Alice In Borderland Character I Want To See The Most In Season 3

The character I’m looking forward to revisiting the most in Alice in Borderland season 3 is neither Arisu nor Usagi, even though I love those two as well. As someone who had read the manga going into the live-action show, I was surprised when Netflix announced Alice in Borderland season 3 was going to happen. The end of Alice in Borderland season 2 was not very different from the manga’s final chapter; the only major deviation being the Joker card at the end. It has since been confirmed that Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya are reprising their roles in season 3.

Alice in Borderland has yet to confirm which other characters will return in season 3. Arisu and Usagi might be the protagonists, but the show would not have been as good without the supporting characters. Despite quite a few changes to the manga when it comes to their personalities and the games they participated in, Netflix’s live-action show did a great job with the heroes and villains of Alice in Borderland. This includes Chishiya, the character I and a lot of other people consider to be the best in the whole show.

Regardless of when Alice in Borderland season 3 takes place, I want to learn what happened to Chishiya after the events of season 2. It is fair to say every character went through some kind of change during Alice in Borderland, which was sort of the point of the whole show. The characters in Alice in Borderland are fighting for their lives following a catastrophic accident in Tokyo, meaning that the Borderland is a state between life and death. Beating the games and returning home meant that you would survive in the real world.

Likewise, accepting the invitation to stay in the Borderland meant that you would die in the real world and would become one of the citizens of the Borderland. Despite his nonchalant approach to life and the fact that he had long lost his faith in humanity, Chishiya declined to stay in the Borderland and returned to the real world without his memories. While Chishiya does not remember what happened when he was on the verge of death, he could feel that something was different and that he was no longer the same person he was before.

How Alice In Borderland Season 2’s Final Episodes Changed Chishiya

Chishiya Was Not The Same After The Beauty Contest Game

Chishiya is arguably the character who changes the most during Alice in Borderland, and all because of one game in particular. During most of the show, Chishiya only thought about himself and did what was necessary to survive, including betraying Arisu and Usagi in season 1. Alice in Borderland separated Chishiya from the rest of the Beach survivors in season 2, with the character playing two major games on his own. While the Jack of Hearts’ "Solitary Confinement" was perhaps the coolest one to watch, the King of Diamonds’ "Beauty Contest" is the one that truly affected Chishiya.

Chishiya does not play the Jack of Hearts' "Solitary Confinement" game in the manga.

While playing against the King of Diamonds, Chishiya opened himself up as they argued about the value of life. This is when we discovered that Chishiya was a doctor in the real world before the events of the show, whose career was cut short after he participated in a scheme in which rich patients would get the transplant they needed after bribing the hospital. Although Chishiya refused to participate at first, he eventually gave up on fighting against it and becomes part of the scheme. This is why he had stopped caring about people and life itself.

Chishiya Should Be A Very Different Character In Alice In Borderland Season 3

Even Without His Memories, Chishiya Is A Different Person Now

Keiichi Kuzuryu, the King of Diamonds, was similar to Chishiya in a lot of ways and had an even more cynical approach to life. I was fascinated by how a game that initially involved multiple players slowly became a personal battle between two people with similar backgrounds. The King of Diamonds seemed to be looking for someone who could prove him wrong, while Chishiya was smart enough to learn the right lessons from one of the show’s most twisted games. By the end of "Beauty Contest," Chishiya was open to reconsidering his life choices.

Alice In Borderland Season 3 Is Officially Bringing Back The Coolest Game That The Netflix Show Ignored

Alice in Borderland skipped one of the manga’s coolest games, but the Netflix live-action show is now bringing it back for the upcoming season 3.

We only got to see this new version of Chishiya for a few minutes before he was shot by Niragi and barely participated in the final episode. This is why I’m so excited to see Chishiya in Alice in Borderland season 3, even if he is now a totally different character. I can’t quite imagine what a less cynical and more hopeful version of Chishiya looks like, but Alice in Borderland has the chance to reinvent one of its most interesting characters and take him in unexpected directions if he does return in season 3.
