I Never Knew I Needed Succession With A Magical Twist Until This April 2025 Fantasy Book
A new fantasybook is the perfect follow-up to Succession. In its four seasons released between 2018-2023, Succession cemented itself as one of HBO's all-time best original series. The hit show revolves around the children of the wealthy Roy family vying for control of Waystar RoyCo. The matter of succession is made more complicated by the unpredictable health and bold decisions made by the media conglomerate's founder and leader, Logan Roy (Brian Cox).
The characters in Succession are not meant to be likable, as the story serves as a satirical and tragic exploration of the Roy family's moral depravity. Since Succession ended, there has not been any other show that has been able to replicate the show's unique flavor. While the fantasy genre seems like it should have little in common with the popular HBO series, it is now poised to offer the best follow-up since the series ended.
Olivie Blake's April 2025 Fantasy Book Is Basically Just Succession With Telekinetic Powers
Three Magical Children Are In Contention For Their Father's Company
Gifted & Talented by Olivie Blake features three siblings with telepathic and electrokinetic powers fighting to take control of Wrenfare Magitech. Their father, Thayer Wren, who was the founder and CEO of Wrenfare Magitech, is now dead, and each of his children are determined to inherit his business empire. The eldest daughter, Meredith, has her own biotechnology company and claims to have cured mental illness. Her brother, Arthur, has the distinction of being the second-youngest congressional representative to be elected.

Every Succession Season, Ranked Worst To Best
HBO's Succession is already considered one of the greatest TV dramas ever, but how do its four seasons stack up against each other in quality?
Meredith and Arthur's sister, Eilidh, used to be a world-renowned ballerina, but has been working as a marketing executive at Wrenfare Magitech since an injury ended her dancing career. Gifted & Talented's premise sounds a lot like Succession, especially if the series had begun with Logan Roy's death. Of course, the most significant difference is the inclusion of magical powers, which will make the matter of succession even more complicated and entertaining.
Gifted & Talented Is The Perfect Read For Fantasy Lovers Missing Succession
Succession With Magic Is A Fascinating Concept
With no show able to fill the void that it left behind, Gifted & Talented is the ideal book to read for those still missing Succession. The struggle between Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Roman (Kieran Culkin), Connor (Alan Ruck), and Shiv (Sarah Snook) already got ugly, but it would have been even worse if they were able to wield telekinetic powers. Blake's novel is able to blend these fantastical elements with character drama that is akin to Succession.
Gifted & Talented was published on April 1, 2025.
With Meredith being worried about her ex-boyfriend, who is a journalist, revealing that she is a fraud, and Arthur's wife on the verge of leaving him, the Wren children bring their own questionable morals into the story. Meredith, in particular, sounds like she would fit in well with the Roy children. Succession ended with a surprising character becoming the new CEO, and now audiences can read Blake's Gifted & Talented to see what happens as the magical Wren children fight for their father's company.
