I Was Excited For Tomodachi Life 2, But Now I Can't Get Past This Annoying Part Of The Trailer
Nearly 10 years after the release of the original, Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream is finally bringing back the iconic Nintendo 3DS game that players have been asking for. While this is certainly something to be excited about, one feature that seems to have been maintained from the Nintendo 3DS version may be a bit of a concern.
While the strange and quirky aspects of the Miis are a large part of what makes them so charming, they aren't without their faults. One feature in particular, the emotionless robotic voices, is something that seems to be a bit of a split opinion, with people either feeling as though they add to the charm or being completely annoyed by them.
Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream Looks Like A Great Sequel
The Iconic Social Sim Makes Its Grand Return Via The Nintendo Switch
Rather than porting over the 3DS version of Tomodachi Life, Nintendo has more than delivered by presenting a brand-new sequel game. With an opening scene of a Mii relaxing on the beach, enjoying the sun, and even breaking wind, there's no doubt that the original humor and charm that made Tomodachi Life special are more than present in this follow-up. Although there's still no formal release date, one thing we know is that you'll be able to dance, antagonize, and dream of Miis sometime in 2026.

After 10 Years, Tomodachi Life Is Finally Getting A Sequel
After more than a decade, Nintendo has announced Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is the long-awaited sequel to the cult classic Mii life sim.
While there are likely tons of new features to come, alongside some iconic returning aspects, there's still little to go on with the small sneak peek showcased at the March 2025 Nintendo Direct. Many things are still speculative at this point, such as whether the romance will have more variety, how multiplayer could work, and what kind of shenanigans your Miis can get up to while you're away.
With the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 and its launch titles taking up most of the focus for the latter half of 2025, we're unlikely to get any confirmation about these features or any more details about Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream until the end of the year or potentially 2026, the year it releases. However, keeping an eye on future Nintendo Directs is the best way to ensure you're up-to-date on all the latest information concerning the release.
The Voices & Sounds Are Already Annoying In The Trailer
Being Weird Is Part Of The Mii Charm, But Some Aspects Could Have Used A Revamp
While I can acknowledge that the weirder the Miis are, the more enjoyable Tomodachi Life is, there's still one thing I can't get past. Though some find the robotic, lifeless voices to be just another quirky feature of their Mii, there's no denying that there's something eerie about them.
Hearing the unanimous monotone voices chanting "Tomodachi Life" during the title screen of the trailer was borderline terrifying, and while I can appreciate that this is something that made the original so iconic, I can't imagine that it won't get old rather quickly. Especially now that they appear to be leaning into an even deeper robotic vocal sound than before.

Nintendo Switch Reveals Virtual Game Cards To Make Owning Multiple Consoles More Flexible
As revealed in the most recent Nintendo Direct, a new feature will allow Switch owners to more freely transfer their digital titles between systems.
The haunting voices certainly added an element of fun to the original, such as players using them to make hilarious karaoke videos, but I can't help but wonder if the sequel would've been better off without them. Changing this feature to a unique, identifiable sound, like Animal Crossing has done, could've contributed to more fun for players or even allowed other aspects of the game to take focus. Unfortunately, the robotic voices have such a dominating presence that it's almost hard to focus on anything else.

Tamagotchi Is Taking On Animal Crossing & Disney Dreamlight Valley In New Game Tamagotchi Plaza
Nintendo announced Tamagotchi Plaza for the Nintendo Switch, with life-sim elements, over 100 Tamagotchi, mini-games, and more for players to enjoy.
If you're not one of the many who enjoyed using these voices for entertainment, you likely found them to be a bit annoying and may even be dreading the sequel because of it. With even just the short one-minute trailer being overwhelmed by the sound, it's safe to say that I'm nervous about the full game leaning too far into the creepy factor.
Although it's not confirmed, there is a chance that this may be a feature that can be turned off, and you can always tweak the pitch of individual characters if the original game is anything to go by. You may still be able to enjoy the ambience of Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream without the voiced dialogue, but there's no way to know until Nintendo releases more information.
