Industry Season 4 Loses An Original Cast Member As Handmaid's Tale Star Joins
The cast of Industry is getting a shakeup, with a Handmaid's Tale actor joining the HBO show. Created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, and debuting in November 2020, Industry centers on the world of high finance. It zeroes in on a group of young bankers in a tense environment that's fueled by sex, drugs, and the status of working at the London branch of the international bank Pierpoint & Co. Industry season 4 was confirmed in September of last year, boosted by an increase in viewership and the addition of Games of Thrones alum Kit Harington.
Deadlinereports that Harry Lawtey, who has played Oxford graduate Robert Spearing, is exiting Industry after three seasons. Lawtey has been with the finance drama since episode 1, with his departure coming as the result of scheduling conflicts. The news comes as Industry season 4 will begin filming in the U.K. in March.
Along with the news that Lawley won't be returning, it has been revealed that The Handmaid's Tale star Max Minghella has joined the cast. Minghella, known for his role as Nick Blaine in Hulu's Margaret Atwood adaptation, plays Whitney Halberstram in Industry, the CFO and Founder of Tender which is described as a “payment processor entering a growth phase.” Minghella, who has also starred in The Social Network and the Saw film Spiral, joins other returning Industry cast members.
What The Cast Changes Mean For Industry Season 4
The HBO Show Continues A Trend
Lawley, who played the young banker working at Pierpoint, was not explicitly written out in the Industry season 3 finale as he took on a new gig as the pitchman for a start-up. Spearing is present in the last scene of the finale, leaning forward and smiling with an extra bit of confidence so it will be interesting to see how the character's absence is explained.

Industry Season 2 Episode 5 Recap: Harper, Yasmin, And Rob Have Unpleasant Family Reunions
Industry season 2, episode 5, may be set during the Christmas season, but the tone is anything but joyful as characters find unwelcome surprises.
There will be familiar faces alongside Minghella, in any case. Myha’la (Harper), Marisa Abela (Yasmin), Ken Leung (Eric), Sagar Radia (Rishi), Miriam Petche (Sweetpea), and Harington (Henry) are all set to return. The casting of Minghella also continues a trend for the acclaimed drama, which has routinely brought in familiar names. The ensemble has featured Sarah Goldberg, who played Sally on Barry, Loot actor Joel Kim Booster, and filmmaker Jay Duplass.
Our Take On Industry's Cast Changes
It's A Big Loss
The loss of Lawtey will be a notable one, especially considering his previous centrality to the story. Industry could, nonetheless, deal with the absence of Spearing in a way that ultimately illuminates the story and takes it in an unexpected direction. It'll be one of the stories to watch for.
