Inter defender Benjamin Pavard insists he doesn’t play football for the money: ‘I want to win trophies and this pushes me to go on the field.’
Pavard, 27, is expected to start in Inter’s key home game against Juventus tonight. A World Cup and Champions League winner, the France international released an interview published on Inter’s Match Programme prior to tonight’s game.
“Before a game, I think about how to win it and how not to concede goals,” said Pavard.
“I play to win games and titles, that’s why I wanted to become a footballer. As a kid, I watched all the top teams lift trophies. I don’t play football for the money; I want the trophies. This pushes me to go on the field. I want to be proud of myself until the end of my career.
“I became a football fan by watching my father play and train. I am proud of where I am, and I am proud of incredible moments such as the goal against Argentina at the World Cup in Russia or the recent brace against Scotland in Lille, where everything began,” he continued.
“The group is made not only by 11 players but also by everyone around them. The medical and fitness staff members and those working behind the scenes are important too. Those who support us from outside the pitch put us in the right condition to win.”
