Invincible Season 3 Just Revealed The Gross Ability Naruto Deliberately Avoided Showing
Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Invincible season 3, episodes 1-5.Invincible's graphic depiction of superheroes continues to throw new surprises, and season 3 just highlighted the gross truth about one of Naruto's most famous powers. Throughout the animated show's three seasons, Invincible has demonstrated its dark and unorthodox approach to one of Hollywood's favorite subgenres. Despite the latest installment having plenty of warm, heartfelt moments like Mark and Eve's romance, Invincible has become renowned for its brutal scenes and unique portrayal of superpowers over the years. Season 3 is no exception, as one bloody scene provided a harsh reminder of just how gruesome some superpowers can be.
Multi-Paul's introduction in season 3 has allowed him to flaunt his duplication powers, the same skill set his sister has used time and time again. However, while Dupli-Kate has demonstrated to the audience how these copies function and has even explained some of the drawbacks, Multi-Paul just revealed a brand-new use for these abilities during his attempted prison escape, and the results are far from pretty. Not only did the scene suggest that Multi-Paul and Dupli-Kate's Invincible powers have an often overlooked quality, but anyone capable of multiplying themselves could possess a similar trait - even Naruto.
Multi-Paul's Prison Escape Was One Of Invincible's Most Brutal Scenes
The Villain Crushed Multiple Duplicates Of Himself To Escape Confinement
With Multi-Paul desperately trying to break out of prison in Invincible season 3, episode 5, his escape attempt provided one of the show's most graphic scenes yet and showed viewers exactly what his abilities are capable of. Despite being Mister Liu's top assassin, Multi-Paul didn't have the strength to break out of a cell on his own, but fortunately for him, he found a solution. With the GDA prison failing to nullify Multi-Paul's powers, the villain decided to create several copies of himself while one version of him used the design of the roof to hold himself above ground.
Despite multiple versions of Multi-Paul knowing they were about to die, they continued duplicating over and over, leaving a pile of corpses covered in blood and guts at the entrance of the antagonist's cell.
From here, the duplicates continued multiplying, overcrowding the cell until it couldn't contain the large number of bodies. This method proved effective, as the door eventually gave way, but not without these copies being crushed in the process. Despite multiple versions of Multi-Paul knowing they were about to die, they continued duplicating over and over, leaving a pile of corpses covered in blood and guts at the entrance of the antagonist's cell. Words alone don't do justice to how horrific the scene was, but the grizzly site even had Paul himself feeling a little disturbed, despite it being his plan.
To make matters worse, Paul managed to evade some guards before being locked in a collar that restricted his powers and thrown back inside a cell. One version of him did manage to escape later in the episode, but putting himself through so much trauma for what was initially a failed prison break amplifies the horror of the scene. Invincible has had no shortage of gore over the years, but the self-inflicted nature adds to how messy the incident was, and it's easily one of the show's most brutal scenes yet.
Invincible Season 3 Reveals The Gross Truth About Characters Who Can Multiply
Duplication Powers Have Some Fairly Horrific Downsides
Although Naruto's shadow clones are one of the most iconic examples of a duplicating character, there are multiple heroes and villains across fiction who possess a similar power, and Invincible just confirmed how bittersweet this attribute may be. Naturally, not every show, book, movie, or game would shine a spotlight on this possible skill - Naruto's shadow clones just pop when defeated - but it seems possible that many iconic characters could use a similar trick to Multi-Paul if they ever ran into trouble. It's a gross last resort, but the Invincible villain proved the crushing technique is surprisingly effective, even if the rest of his plan failed.

One Of Invincible's Strongest Characters Hasn't Even Shown Their Full Power Yet
Invincible has introduced a plethora of powerful characters, but one of the show's strongest fighters has kept their full potential hidden.
In addition, Dupli-Kate also highlighted that all of her copies are an extension of herself, meaning every injury and death takes a toll on her mentally, creating another moral dilemma about multiplying characters. While copies are often disposable in other projects, there's a chance the duplicates are still dying and feeling pain, just like in Invincible. The versatility of this skill set means Multi-Paul may be one of Invincible's most quietly powerful characters, but despite the hidden strengths, duplicating powers also comes with incredible loss, something that is often be ignored by other popular works of fiction.
Multi-Paul's Sacrifices Show What Makes Him So Different To Kate
Multi-Paul Is Much More Willing To Sacrifice Versions Of Himself Than His Sister
Despite sharing the same powers and a similar upbringing, Multi-Paul's willingness to sacrifice his duplicates shows what makes him different from Kate. While it still had a slight emotional impact on him, Multi-Paul killed dozens of versions of himself during his attempt to break out of prison in agonizing fashion, without giving it a second thought. He may have felt like it was his only choice, but it's hard to picture Kate doing something similar. She has lost several copies in battle and continues to put them in harm's way, but Kate still tries her best to keep them alive.

Kate even took some time away from heroism after the Lizard League fight as it weighed so heavily on her mind, whereas Multi-Paul was back to making more copies shortly after his botched escape. It would be unfair to say Paul doesn't care about losing versions of himself with each duplicate sharing a mind, but based on what we've seen so far, he's far more willing to sacrifice copies than his sister. Therefore, their conflicting ideologies should make the Cha twins' Invincible dynamic even more interesting as the show moves forward, especially since they're on opposite sides of the law.
