Is Ark: Survival Ascended Ragnarok DLC Free?
Ever since Ark: Survival Ascended was announced by Studio Wildcard, players have been excited as to what's coming from the Ark: Survival Evolved remaster, including the Ragnarok DLC, and wondering if they'll have to pay for it or if it's free. Now that the game has passed its second year, fans have been keen to see what is in store for the game after achieving its goal of being a technical upgrade over its predecessor. As the success of future content could ultimately decide the fate of the franchise going forward, it's important that each piece of this extra content resonates with players.
That's especially the case with Ark 2 essentially being in limbo after numerous delays over the years. To reignite interest in the series, the Ragnarok DLC and the rest of the content in the new Ark: Survival Ascended roadmap have little, or no, cost and are great for enticing fans to jump back in or draw in new ones altogether. Then, they can try their hand at having fun at various challenges, like trying to tame the hardest dinosaurs and creatures the game has to offer.
Ark's Ragnarok DLC Will Be Free
No Extra Cost For People Who Own The Game
Yes, Ark: Survival Ascended's edition of theRagnarok DLC will be absolutely free, meaning that players won't have to put up any casual to join in on the fun of the map's return in April 2025. Following ASA's upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.5 and the hopefully improved performance it can bring, you can install Ragnarok a month later and enjoy the map at no extra cost.
However, it isn't exactly canon to the story of the Ark franchise if you were concerned about that sort of thing. Nevertheless, it's still an extra bit of fun where you can try and domesticate new beasts, like the Ice Wyvern, Dire Polar Bear, and Iceworm Queen. It also has unique environmental features like an active volcano that can cause meteors to rain down on the map, adding some additional excitement to the experience.
What Other DLC Is Planned For Ark: Survival Ascended In 2025?
Paid & Free Content Coming To Ark Later This Year
Along with Ragnarok, Ark: Survival Ascended has other DLC available for 2025, like Valguero and the Lost Colony expansion. First, after Ragnarok, the game will be adding a paid premium map in June, before the Valguero map gets added in August. No matter which of these smaller DLCs you wish to try, you can still add some of Ark: Survival Ascended's best premium mods to add a unique twist.
Since each DLC will be released separately, you can install and delete whichever you like if you wish to save room on your console or PC.
Finally, the developer is saving the best of the year for last with ASA'sLost Colony expansion in November. All that's known so far is that it will be very story-based and could be set between Extinction and Genesis, but it's a reason to be excited either way. After you download the Ragnarok DLC for free in April, Ark: Survival Ascended is about to get even more entertaining.
