Italiano gives first impressions on new Fiorentina recruit Belotti

Vincenzo Italiano believes that new Fiorentina signing Andrea Belotti has ‘enthusiasm and the right qualities’ to help the team push for a place in the Champions League positions by the end of the 2023-24 season.

Italiano sat down for his customary pre-match press conference on Thursday, ahead of Fiorneitna’s trip to Lecce in Serie A on Friday evening.

Plenty of questions were focussed on Belotti and how he will fit in to the current Fiorentina squad.

Belotti officially joined Fiorentina on loan from Roma until the end of the 2023-24 campaign on Wednesday evening for a reported fee of €750,000. La Viola do not have an option to buy clause included in the deal.

Fiorentina’s squad update on Thursday afternoon confirmed that Belotti is part of the travelling squad to face Lecce on Friday night.

Speaking about his new striker, Italiano said: “Belotti is very happy to be here. He has the right qualities and enthusiasm and I’m sure we will work very well together. He will be a great help to us.

“Tomorrow, winning is fundamental. We have to stay towards the top of the standings. We played well against Inter, but we need to improve in front of goal.”

Belotti could be in line to make his Fiorentina debut against Lecce, which kicks off at 19.45 GMT on Friday night.
