Italy international Wilfried Gnonto is averaging just shy of a goal per 90 minutes in 2024 after his recent brace for Leeds during their 4-0 Championship win over Swansea City on Tuesday evening.
Gnonto lined up as a starter on Tuesday, grabbing Leeds’ third and fourth goals after 35 and 72 minutes, as well as adding his second assist of the season for Joel Piroe’s goal and Leeds’ second of the game.
The 20-year-old now has four goals from the six matches he has started in 2024. Three of those strikes have come in the Championship against Swansea and their rivals Bristol City, with the fourth coming in the FA Cup fourth round replay against Plymouth.
Gnoto’s tally now stands at five goals and two assists in all competitions this season. He had only found the net once in the first half of the 2023-24 campaign.
The former Inter youth product has also been enjoying a more consistent run of starts in the first team.
He had only started twice in the Championship before the turn of the new year, but has now started five times in a row, three in the league and two in the FA Cup.
Leeds’ and Gnonto’s next match comes on Saturday against Plymouth in the Championship, kicking off at 12.30 GMT.
