Jensen Ackles Compliments Jared Padalecki Going "Out Of His Comfort Zone" In The Boys Season 5
Jensen Ackles has complimented Jared Padalecki for going "out of his comfort zone" in The Boysseason 5, ahead of their reunion in the show's final season. The Boys season 5 will see Ackles return as Soldier Boy, alongside Padalecki arriving on the scene as an undisclosed character. The pair previously starred in Supernatural together, portraying Sam (PadaleckI) and Dean Winchester (Ackles) throughout the show's 15-season run. Both shows were also created by Eric Kripke, reuniting the pair with the showrunner they've previously worked with.
Speaking together at a panel during Creation Entertainment's "The Road So Far... The Road Ahead: Creation Boston" convention (via FangasmSPN), Ackles complimented Padalecki for breaking "out of his comfort zone" during The Boys season 5. While neither actor confirmed what his role is going to be, the Soldier Boy actor discussed how familiar working together felt. He also said he was "proud" of his co-star for pursuing the role in the final season, hinting at what he'll be up to in the final episodes. Check out what Ackles had to say below:
To be fair, we never really stopped. It was very easy, and very familiar being on set together... [It was] a very different playground.
I will say that it was fun to see Jared out of his comfort zone. But, you handled it with grace, and you were awesome, and, I already told you this, but I was proud of what you put in. It was good in this show with this people that I've come to know, and deliver the way he did.
Another Supernatural star, Misha Collins, has also been cast in The Boys season 5.
What Ackles' Statement Means For Padalecki In The Boys Season 5
The Familiar Newcomer Will Have Quite The Memorable Role
While he's joining the cast of The Boysseason 5, it's currently unclear who Padalecki will be portraying. Based on Ackles' statement, it seems like, whoever it is, it'll be someone who interacts with Soldier Boy, offering a fitting reunion after their Supernatural days. It also appears this character is outside the box for the Walker star, indicating his character will be unlike any he's portrayed before. Who it is remains up in the air, though, alongside just how big a role he'll have in the series' final episodes.

Jared Padalecki & Jensen Ackles Reunion After Supernatural Can Happen Ahead Of The Boys
Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles played one of the most iconic TV brothers, and they have an opportunity to reunite on the screen in the near future.
As for Ackles, The Boys is just the start of his time portraying Soldier Boy, as he's set to reprise his role for the upcoming Vought Rising, a prequel where he'll co-star with Aya Cash's Stormfront. Padalecki's role may be smaller by comparison, but their reunion indicates it'll have some long-standing importance for the season, no matter what it may be. As for how he differentiated this role from his others, it remains to be seen what the actor will be doing, and how his role ties into the larger story of the fight against Vought.
Our Take On Padalecki's Upcoming Role In The Boys Season 5
It Sounds Like The Perfect Evolution For The Seasoned Actor
Since it seems like his role is going to bring him outside the typical level-headed, grounded characters he's portrayed, it's still up in the air who Padalecki is going to be portraying. Whether it's an original character or someone from Garth Ennis' comic series, it sounds like he'll be showing a very different side of himself when he arrives onscreen. This makes his appearance in The Boys all the more exciting, especially if it's far-removed from the roles he's best known for.
The Boys season 5 arrives in 2026 on Prime Video.
