Lazio saw their deadline day transfer for winger Ryan Kent collapse at the last minute because Fenerbahce owed the player outstanding money.

He had been all set to put pen to paper for a loan deal worth €500,000 with option to buy for a further €5m at the end of the season.

However, problems emerged with an hour to go before the Italian transfer deadline, which is at 19.00 GMT.

With 15 minutes left, Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia both reported that the deal was off and Kent was refusing to leave Fenerbahce without his payment.

The former Liverpool and Glasgow Rangers winger only joined Fenerbahce as a free agent in July 2023.

Multiple reports state that his agent visited the Fenerbahce headquarters tonight in a last-ditch bid to resolve these issues, which regard both commissions and the money the Turkish club still owe to Kent.

However, that meeting failed to find a breakthrough, so Kent pulled the plug on the transfer to Lazio.

Turkish reports only state that Kent ‘changed his mind at the last minute’ without specifying why.

Lalaziosiamonoi.it claim that Kent could still leave Fenerbahce for Hull City, if they agree to pay the outstanding wages that Fenerbahce are refusing to hand over.
