Liam Neeson's Airplane Action Thriller From Carry-On Director Becomes Global Netflix Hit
Liam Neeson's airplane action thriller from the director of Carry-On has become a global Netflix hit. Though the Irish actor rose to prominence for his performance in Steven Spielberg's acclaimed Holocaust drama Schindler's List, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, Neeson redefined himself as an action star with the Taken movies. Some of his other action movies include The A-Team, The Grey, Wrath of the Titans, A Walk Among the Tombstones, and Cold Pursuit.
Within the action genre, Neeson has collaborated with director Jaume Collet-Serra numerous times. To date, Neeson has starred in four films from the director – Unknown, Non-Stop, Run All Night, and The Commuter – all of which are action thrillers that received mixed reviews from critics, but were mostly box-office successes. Jaume Collet-Serra's latest action thriller is Netflix's Carry-On, which stars Taron Egerton as a TSA agent who is blackmailed into allowing a dangerous package on board a flight.
Non-Stop Becomes A Global Netflix Hit
It Ranks 6th For This Week

The cast also includes Julianne Moore, Scoot McNairy, Michelle Dockery, Nate Parker, Corey Stoll, Lupita Nyong'o, Jason Butler Harner, Linus Roache, Shea Whigham, Anson Mount, and Corey Hawkins.
Now, a decade after its release, Liam Neeson and Jaume Collet-Serra's airplane action thriller is now a global Netflix hit. Non-Stop ranks sixth on Netflix's Global Top 10 movies for this week with 4.2 million views and 7.5 million hours viewed. It's in the Top 10 in 17 countries, including No. 1 in Brazil, Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Paraguay, and El Salvador. What Non-Stop's Netflix Success Means
Jaume Collet-Serra's Airplane Action Thrillers Are Having A Moment?
The immense popularity of Carry-On likely urged audiences to check out Jaume Collet-Serra's previous airplane action thriller, Non-Stop, also streaming on Netflix. Both movies share the same high-stakes setting and showcase the director's knack for crafting these tense scenarios. Though both movies may devolve into unbelievability, audiences introduced to Carry-On's confident execution, solid premise, and tense setup may have discovered Non-Stop as a natural next watch, and were further enticed by Liam Neeson's star power.
Non-Stop was a big box office success in 2014, grossing $222 million against its $28–50 million budget.
