Luis Alberto urges Lazio to show ‘character’ in the Champions League clash with Bayern Munich this evening and admits he was not a natural fit for Maurizio Sarri’s tactics.
The first leg kicks off at 20.00 GMT at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens from this game and Bologna-Fiorentina in Serie A on the LIVEBLOG.
The second leg will be in Munich on March 5 and the away goals rule no longer qualifies in UEFA knockout fixtures.
Gustav Isaksen and Ciro Immobile were chosen rather than Pedro and Taty Castellanos, with Mattia Zaccagni still out injured, while Matias Vecino starts despite a few fitness concerns.
Luis Alberto pulls the midfield strings, although he admits it was not always easy to fit into Sarri’s 4-3-3 system.
“Sarri prefers a trequartista who can push up, but I am what I have always been,” the Spaniard told Amazon Prime Video Italia.
“We must not be afraid, you need to be free of pressure to play these Champions League matches. We’ve got to play our game with character, knowing full well that it will be difficult.
“There will be the need for sacrifice and unity, because if we leave them space, Bayern can do a lot of damage with the players at their disposal.”
Luis Alberto was asked what the key concept will be for this game.
“Character.”
