Malcolm In The Middle Revival Confirms Two Returning Original Cast Members & One Recast

The Wilkerson family is reunited, as the reveal of two major returns and a recast have rounded out the core cast of Disney+'s upcoming Malcolm in the Middle revival. The upcoming four-part sitcom reboot revisits the dysfunctional and struggling Masterson family over twenty years after the original series concluded. Starring Frankie Muniz and critically acclaimed throughout its original run, the Malcolm in the Middle revival was confirmed to be in development in December 2024 and is set to begin filming in April 2025.

As reported by Deadline, Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield will reprise their roles of Francis and Reese Masterson. This marks a reunion with their on-screen sibling Muniz, as well as Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek, who will portray parents Hal and Lois again. Meanwhile, Caleb Ellsworth-Clark will take on the role of Dewey from Erik Per Sullivan and join fellow series newcomers Anthony Timpano and Vaughan Murrae, who will play the youngest Masterson siblings, Jamie and Kelly, while Keeley Karsten will play Malcolm's daughter, Leah.

In light of the casting update, it is unsurprising that the revival will feature the majority of the original cast. As Muniz shed light on the potential for a continuation that Cranston had begun laying the foundations for, it had been stated that the majority of the original cast was ready to return once the original creator, Linwood Boomer, gave his blessing for a revival. However, Sullivan's involvement was unlikely even at this stage due to the progression of his career following the show's conclusion.
