Mario Kart World Nintendo Direct: Time, Date, Where To Watch, What To Expect

Mario Kart World is one of the buzziest games coming to the Switch 2, so it's understandable it would be getting its own Nintendo Direct. Mario Kart World was originally revealed alongside the official announcement for the Switch 2, and its title was later dropped at a subsequent Nintendo Direct. Although we've already seen some of what the game has to offer, the dedicated Mario Kart World Nintendo Direct will likely give us more insight into the game's new mechanics and features.

Although we already have an extensive roster of Mario Kart World racers, I wouldn't be surprised if we learned more about what their different outfits do in the game. I'm also looking forward to learning more about the game's open-world aspects, and its Knockout Tour races. If you're also excited about all the latest Mario Kart World news, you'll want to know where and when to tune into its Nintendo Direct.

At the end of the game's section during the last Nintendo Direct, it was announced that there would be a dedicated Mario Kart World Direct on April 17, 2025, at 9 a.m. ET or 6 a.m. PT. Nintendo Directs are always available to stream on any of Nintendo's official YouTube channels. If you are unable to watch right when it airs, don't worry. Nintendo keeps videos of its Directs up on YouTube to watch on demand.

Early Mario Kart World Discoveries Include Giant Boats And Detailed Water Physics

As more players get their hands on Mario Kart World, new discoveries are being made, including giant vehicles and updates to environmental physics.

Nintendo also tends to split their Directs into smaller sections that you can watch individually. I'm not sure if they will do the same this time, given that the Direct is all about Mario Kart World, but they may still break it up into sections about specific parts of the game. I sometimes find this a more efficient way to comb through the announcements from a new Nintendo Direct, since I can seek out exactly what I'm interested in without watching the entire video.

What To Expect From The Mario Kart World Nintendo Direct

This Nintendo Direct Will Likely Cover New Gameplay Features

The previous Nintendo Direct was a little vague regarding what the Mario Kart World Direct would cover, simply promising "more information." That said, there are a few things I might expect to see, like more information on Mario Kart World's courses. Specifically, I'd expect to hear more about how we can explore the courses in Free Roam mode, and how retro courses have been redesigned to accommodate this new feature.

Mario Kart World Is Missing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's Best Feature, But It Could Still Come

Mario Kart World has a lot of amazing ideas up its sleeve, but it is missing one of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s best features, and that could be a problem.

Since Mario Kart World is a Switch 2 launch title, I would also hope we might get some updates on the status of the console itself and its delayed pre-orders. Although I doubt this would have originally been part of the plan, I'm sure Nintendo knows we're all eager to hear about any potential changes to the Switch 2's release plan and price. I'm sure there will also be some Mario Kart World information that I'm not expecting, so I'm excited to see what this Nintendo Direct has in store for us.
