Marvel Rivals Reveals New Character Release Strategy Starting With Season 3
There will be a new character release strategy for Marvel Rivals when Season 3 begins later this year. Season 2 of Marvel Rivals is set to begin on April 11 and will feature the debut of the icy Emma Frost and menacing Ultron to the game's expansive roster, but the developers are already planning for future seasons, and the new character release strategy for Season 3 and beyond is sure to make a lot of fans very happy.
A Marvel Rivals Season 2 deep-dive video revealed that starting with Season 3, there will be one new character added to the game every month. The seasons will also be shortened to just two months to accommodate the increase in character additions coming to the game. The decision was made after a lot of internal discussion regarding the release timing of characters, according to creative director Guangyun Chen.
Marvel Rivals Will Release One Character Every Month Starting With Season 3
Even More Characters Are Coming
Season 1 was stated to be an anomaly, with a desire to introduce all Fantastic Four members in the same season, so Season 1 had four characters instead of two. Moving forward into Season 2, the original plan called for two new characters per season, with one character released at the beginning of the season and the second halfway through. Emma Frost will join at Season 2's launch on April 11 with the release of Season 2, with Ultron joining later.

Marvel Rivals' Official Lore Has Never Been Easier to Understand
Marvel Rivals has been a break-out hit among gamers, and Marvel Comics is capitalizing on that excitement with a series of tie-in comic stories.
Now, the character release strategy is changing again, with a new character coming every month. Each season was originally stated to last three months, but this new strategy from the Marvel Rivals development team will shorten seasons to just two months, allowing for characters to release more quickly.
Monthly Characters Keep The Roster Growing, But Not Too Quickly
A Constant Stream Of Content
The impressive roster of Marvel Rivals continues to grow every season, and with dozens of characters coming to the game being leaked, there seems to be an almost never-ending supply of characters, maps, and team-ups to add to the game. Despite the huge potential character pool for Marvel Rivals, stemming from Marvel's multi-decade history and thousands of characters to choose from, the roster is growing at a reasonable pace, but not too quickly to where the gameplay balance is thrown out the window.
The decision to shorten the seasons to just two months to allow for more season themes, skins, and, of course, characters, seems to be a move that Marvel Rivals players will be pleased with, in hopes their favorite character comes to the game sooner rather than later.
